My 2006 Exige showed a steady MIL and logged code P0016 (no others) following a noisy startup. After searching elsewhere on the forum I realized this was probably the timing chain tensioner not doing its job after the car sat for a couple of weeks. http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f3/rattling-noise-cold-start-up-16163/

This is the only time the noisy startup occurred since I bought the car in 2006. The MIL has cleared itself, I assume after logging three good startups.

Does this correlate with anyone else's experience? The P0016 makes sense to me if caused by the timing chain tensioner issue.

TIA,

that's a logical explanation.
also, i think i got a similar indication when i was fiddling with the signal to the transducer which advances the cam timing.
i tried putting a switch on the transducer to manually change the cam timing.......it didn't work! :panic:
apparently the system has feedback and looks for the appropriate changes...
