The first Lotus I was aware of was the 7 that actor Patrick Mcgoohan drove in the introduction to the British 1960s TV show "The Prisoner"

RIP, number 6.

I never missed the opening just to glimpse the car.

Tom
Whats weird is I was just reading about the new Prisoner mini series that is in post production for A&E.

RIP Patrick
That sucks, his stuff was great, I was just back in The Village on my last trip to the Uk, used to go there all the time.

Who's going to be number 1 now ?

Goodbye Patrick. You were a great Danger Man, Prisoner, and all other things.

Patrick didn't want his "Secret Agent" character to be like Bond or The Saint with women. He felt he had a moral duty to set a good example for children. Imagine that.
Watched every episode when they first came out. Brilliant series, brilliant actor.
ICE STATION ZEBRA as "David Jones."

He was great in everything he did.

Quotes for
David Jones (Character)
from Ice Station Zebra (1968)

Cmdr. Ferraday: There's one thing that cannot happen on board a submarine by accident... is both ends of a torpedo tube open to the sea at the same time!
David Jones: You cross-connect the hydraulic manifold to the outside door mechanism so that the indicator reads shut when the door is actually open. The same sort of electrical cross on these two panels, and the open position reads green when it should flash red. Then you plug up the inlet to the test cock with chewing gum, sealing wax, anything... just so that it shows a dribble. And then you open the tube, and Good Night.

Cmdr. Ferraday: It wasn't sealing wax. It wasn't chewing gum. It was epoxy glue. And all of a sudden you know a whole damn lot about submarines.
David Jones: I know how to wreck them, and I know how to lie, steal, kidnap, counterfeit, suborn and kill. That's my job. I do it with great pride.

--------

David Jones: Where were you stationed, Captain, before you were picked up in transit?
Capt. Leslie Anders: Asia
David Jones: Ah, then you haven't been on the ice before either.
Capt. Leslie Anders: No, Sir. A bullet goes just as fast up here as it does down there.
David Jones: Not quite. An insignificant difference, perhaps, but I think you'll find the operational characteristics of the M-16 indicate that a bullet will decelerate as much as 40 feet per second per second faster in these climate conditions. It's denser air, you know.

Rover, come on give us a hard one ;)

it was a weather ballon dragged on a piece of string

Bought the DVD Boxed set..paid a lot, (I thought)--didn't care. That opening sequence with the 7 was HYPNOTIC. I'll have to dbl check, but I think he only got to drive it onscreen in one (maybe 2?) episodes (beyond the pilot, of course). That show stands up to ANYTHING out today...and tomorrow.

Well, I am motivated to get a set and relive some childhood memories. The Prisoner was probably some my first exposure to science fiction outside of books. Yes, I am that old, 53 today.

"The Prisoner" was one of my favorite series when I was a kid. Watched every one.

RIP Patrick.
Be seeing you, Number Six.[/url]

well said !

RIP Patrick McGoohan
I was quite excited when I found out my car was #6.

RIP secret agent man.
The was my favorite TV show growing up. If he wanted to influence people, McGoohan certainly suceeded.

If you like The Prisoner, you will probably enjoy this.
