Here's an easier way to do it. Use 3x5 index cards with the wheels off the car.

This is not my image and I take no credit for this idea.

You guys do not need to use cards. You overspray on the tire so it will get all the way in the edge of the wheel. When you are done, the full layer will pull off of the tire. I just did it this way this past weekend. Worked perfectly without having the hassle of cards or paper.

Fast forward to 3:20 in the video

I used to use index cards until I saw this ^ done on multiple videos.

OP, I think the gold is going to look awesome with the red. Post final pics when you are done!

For some reason I was expecting a bright shiny metallic gold, but I really like this. It's not too "blingy" or overpowering. Just right. Nice job!

Classy and understated...gives it a tasteful, sophisticated look. I like it!!!
Looking forward to some on the road pics :)

Never been a fan of the gold wheels but that looks subtle and not obnoxious like some.

I saw a black truck a few days ago with neon green wheels. No accounting for taste (or lack thereof).

I've seen a few cars (mostly ricers) with bright green wheels. Is this the latest fad? :facepalm

How well does this stuff hold up?
It's pretty soft and nicks up. When it looks tired just peel it off. Plastidip itself has been around for a while in a regular paint can and we used to use it to re-coat tool handle grips like pliers by dipping the grips into the can. They put it into spray cans and now they try to put it on just about everything.
