I got in my car yesterday morning and the lights behind the spedo and tach (08 instrumant cluster) are not working as well as the heater lights (the heater lights were on but very dim)... The turn sig, gas light, highbeam light, and small red box with milage are all working, just not the dials... I checked all the fuses up front and the ones under the passenger footwell. what's next?

ummmm ok I hope this is why my lights don't work... I feel like an idiot, never knew that button did two things.

Here is what happened:

went to the gas station after track day (at night). Held to reset trip button, nothing happened, kept on trying to hold it and nothing happened. So I thought, must have broke on the track (something usually breaks while I'm on the track so I figured this time it was going to be the trip reset button).

I get out of the gas station and look down and realize my gauge lights aren't working as well as my HVAC lights. hmmm strange, must be something electrical I broke then.

I get in the car two days later, hey the dash and HVAC lights seem very dim so I think, maybe its a loose wire somewhere.

Got to Lotustalk and search to find this. thank god I hate electrical problems!

About those shift lights though...

I notice that mine work just after I first start the car and begin driving - but it seems like once I have made it through the gears, and the car has warmed up, I don't really notice them. I can wind the rpm's up in 3,4,5th and just don't see them flash. It is almost like it does it once. Is this how these are supposed to work or am I just not winding it up enough to get them to come on again?

Duh, didn't know the trip reset had a dual function either. I did the speedo/tach reset trick this weekend after I got tired of them reading high, that worked. But Saturday night I realized the lighting for the speedo/tach was not illuminating and started looking at fuses to no avail. Thx CX for your RTFM tip.
