What Color Will Your Elise Be?

Assuming that we'll have all the UK color options available to us, which color will you pick for your 2005 Elise?

For more information on colors, please visit these websites:
http://www.elises.co.uk/models/s2/colours.html
http://www.kirschmann.ch/lotus/index.html

Notice that I've included Chrome Orange as one of the options. Please be advised that this color is different from Lava Orange, and is only offered as an Exige/Esprit color.

Why did I include it? Well, I think that Chrome Orange would look really sharp on an Elise, and I would really love to see it offered as an option.

For some nice pictures of Chrome Orange Loti, please visit:

These are good-sized pics, so please wait for the pictures to load.

Actually, it is a metallic color. A pearlescent orange.
Yeah I'll take a pearlescent Orange any Pearlescant Orange :D
I vowed I'd never own another vehicle with metallic paaint but the Elise cries out for something special!
If I could have my druthers I would want a military flat
khaki green finish so I can look REALLY fast! :D

But I would settle for the Chrome Orange. (drooling)
Has anyone dealt with Lotus before in the aspect of custom ordering options? What I mean is, BMW has a program called BMW Individual where you can order any car with basically any type and color interior and exterior that you want. For instance, you could say that you want a techno violet 745 Li with white sheep skin carpet, black alcantara dash and head liner, and violet velour mats. Now that would be UGLY, but you get what you want, and you pay quite a bit more. You can also specify equipment or lack thereof as well. For instance, you can have them build in a fax machine for you, but leave out the power seats...

What am I getting at?

Can you order a lotus in a custom color from the factory, and possible different interios options?

I like a color from the elise S1 days, and possibly might want to remove some of the items that they seem to be throwing in for the US market... Just some random thoughts here.
I don't know the answer, but I have been told that those on the waiting list will be placing orders with our options and color choices. Quite a difference compared to my past experience (Toyota). "Oh... you want a specific color? *laughs* We get one a month allotted to us."
Stu at Boardwalk Lotus (Redwood City, CA) was confident that he could get me almost anything I wanted, including the alcantara interior (if Lotus goes with leather as indications suggest). He talks to Arnie (Lotus USA) a fair amount. Configuring a car with british-spec parts (like the interior) shouldn't be a problem as long as it doesn't coflict with US safety rules, but as for ordering a non-standard color, I really don't know. Talk to your local dealer and see what they say.
Some of you may gross out, but I like the Norfolk Mustard that they used to offer.
Looks pretty good! The S1 does make the S2 look oversized.
I actually like that color a lot, as well ! It's a very traditional color (colour) for Lotus cars, and I've seen an S1 in that paint (the first Elise that I saw in real life, in fact) and it looked very nice, IMO. Also, because it's a solid color it would probably be pretty easy to touch-up, and it's bright and therefore probably a fairly "safe" color choice.

All that being said, I don't know if I want to be driving a yellow car (call me insecure !), esp. for the long haul - I plan on keeping the Elise for quite a while. So, for now, I'm planning on ordering mine in....black !

Even though it'll be a nightmare to keep clean and swirl-free, I can't resist it. A nice, shiny black car looks the best, IMO.
I read on one of the British Elise message boards that one person who went on a factory tour recently saw three new colors being used on Elise S2's (or S2.5?). One was described as 'mustard yellow', one 'gold', and one 'purpleish'.
I like that yellow also (and the S1 styling!). A deeper yellow is good. I am not a fan of the lighter lemony yellows.

The Black Elises are very sweet. I have two black cars now, so I am thinking not black. :)
I am surprised that you all like the mustard. Friends and family thumb their noses everytime I mention any variation of yellow. I hope it is one of the added colors.

As for black cars, I was turned off to them when I was forced to drive a black deisel chevette with black vinyl interior with no A/C when we lived in the Mojave desert. An experience I will not soon forget. My wife's new vehicle is black, but my car is laguna green. Both have tan interiors which I have become partial to. However, with the mustard, I really like a black/metal interior.
Black is a beautiful color on a nicely detailed car, but for something as small as the Elise, I prefer a brighter color to attract the attention of other drivers and help them see me.
Black looks really good on some cars, but it just doesn't seem to work on the Elise. Maybe the Elise is just too high tech looking with too many edges. Black looks good on curves...Jaguars and Miatas, for example.

I looked at some photos on a site with Elise photo albums, and I found that pale or muted colors seemed to look best on the Elise. Laser blue, which I think is a snazzy color on most cars, was a little too loud given the Elise's busy styling...Cobalt Blue worked really well for me. Gunmetal is stunning. My vote today was for the Quartz. My last two cars have been dark colors, which show dirt and scratches, and get hot in the sun (well, the hardtop car did...the softtop car has a tan top which is never up to trap heat anyway).
