I'll be driving from Portland, Oregon to spend the night on the coast, then on to Pendleton in eastern Oregon for the next night. A day-long drive through the Wenatchee National Forest will put me in the Seattle/Tacoma area at the end of my third day on the road. From there, I'll ship my car back to Alaska. Technology willing, I'll post some pics below.

On my first whole day with my new Elise, I drove about 450 miles from Lincoln City, Oregon to Pendleton, Oregon:

- Lincoln City HY 101
- Newport HY 20
- Corvalis HY 34
- Lebanon HY 126
- Prineville HY 26
- Mt Vernon HY 395
- Pendleton.

This route is 99% twisty, two-lane roads in the mountains signed 55 MPH. Great scenery, and as luck would have it, no one was on the road this Sunday night. Several areas are signed for lots of deer. I saw a few beside the road, out of commission from the night before, at about the midpoint of this route. I was in the dark for the last 60 miles, bit it straightens out quite a bit and had good visibility for animals. The road is in great shape.

The best part is I hit 600 miles on the odometer a few miles out of Pendleton. Tomorrow, I'll work up to 7,500 or so on the tach. The car had great torque for the mountains, despite 4,700' elevation in some spots and me restricting most runs to 4,500 RPM.

I've included a few pics from near the John Day Fossil Beds.

My third day out took me from Pendleton, OR to Seattle, WA. I started out on HWY 395 to Sprague, WA, then continued on WA-23 to Harrington. Then I took WA-28 to Davenport where it intercepts Hwy 2. Then I continued through the Wenatchee National Forest into the north side of Seattle.

The best part of this leg was WA-23 and WA-28. It was recently resurfaced, two-lane road with lots of turns and sparse population. On the Monday afternoon I was there, I think I passed two or three cars in 35 miles. But most of HWY 395 north of Pendleton and most of HWY 2 in eastern WA is straight and hot high desert.

Here are few shots of where I stayed the night in Pendleton:
