Looks like these Celica parts will fit our cars...maybe I'll try out a set. They fit on the ends of the two shift cables where they attach to the Tranny. (second pic is on a Celica so the stuff around the brass bushing won't look exactly the same for us...)

I would also look into the shifter base (in teh cockpit). There are rubber bushings in there that really add to the slop of the stock Celica shifter. These bushings work well (well mine do, but I made a similar type out of delrin).

Sorry to dig up such an old thread! I did a search for bushings and came up with nothing else. Anyway, has anyone tried these bushings and do they work for our cars? I've had these on other toyotas and they work very well and make a noticeable difference.

That's because our cars don't have those rubber bushings. Look at yours.
