Does anyone know if there should be a bolt through the hole circled in red? My driver's side window on my Elise will not go up at all. The issue started a few days ago where it would not go up. It eventually went up and functioned fine for a few days. But now the window is stuck all the way down. I ruled out the switch and fuse by swapping from the passengers side. I would like to test the motor by connecting power directly to it, but I can't reach the harness. Anybody have a trick to getting to the motor wires? I was going to remove the door handle assembly next and try to get to it from there...

Check and make sure you are getting power to the switch and motor first. Mine was like this when I bought it only rolled all the way up and it was a broken wire right where the door hinges. Easy fix- Good Luck:shift:

I don't see any exposed wires to probe at the door hinge. I'm pretty sure the switch has power. I can see a small arch when I press down. Nothing though when I press up. I'd like to check power at the motor, but I can't find where the wiring is b/c the opening in the door is so small.

Yes, there should be. Those bolts love to fall out, it's a common source of rattles. One of mine was missing when I bought mine.

http://www.lotustalk.com/forums/f101/part-bolt-id-drivers-door-window-assembly-118233/ has more info.

I'd recommend replacing it and playing with the window a bit before you try to manually power the motor. I think your window might have shifted a bit from the missing bolt and is now bound up/stuck on something, so powering the motor *might* just burn it out or break the window.

If it still doesn't work I think you're on the right track, but it's worth checking whether the window is stuck first.

Fuse and switch were swapped from passenger side, so I ruled that out. I tried 'helping' the window up by lifting from the rear bottom of glass while pressing the button up, but there's no movement. There's a lot of play in the back of the window but not at the front. Not sure if it's binding at the front b/c I can't get my hand in there to wiggle it. I found these parts laying in the bottom of the door. The black piece looks like a cable clip, and the white piece is a plastic spacer. Not sure where they came out of...
