I guess we’ll find out soon enough, but I hope that the info released at the media launch event this week will not have to be embargoed by the press for any length of time.
Anyone in-the-know know?

A "Press Embargo" is an agreement between a publisher (magazine, newspaper, etc.) and a manufacturer to refrain from printing any information about a manufacturer's product before a certain date.

Many magazines have a 3 month lead time, so they can receive information (or drive) a new car in advance but cannot write about it until a certain date.

An example: Suppose the Elise were to be "officially" introduced in May. Lotus may invite journalists to drive the car in January or February but put an embargo on them to refrain from publishing until May. Publishers then will put the story into a magazine layout starting in February to meet the May release date. But they can't release any information prior to May. (They burn their "goodwill" with the manufacturer if they do and will not be included in this "inner circle of information" the next time.)

An easy way to see this "embargo" is to look at Autoweek. They definitely have a short leadtime (the F1 race report is received within 1-1.5 weeks of the reace), but they typically have major new car tests the same time they come out in the long lead time monthlies.

Do you think that we will have a way of finding out in advance what car magazines are going to be publishing articles and test results of the cars? This way we could go out and buy the publications if we knew that the May or June editions would have the info insetead of someone on the forum getting a magazine and realizing that it has an article in it.

Most companies have info on their website about the publications that they have appeared in. It would be nice to know in advance if Motorweek or another TV show was featuring the car, so we would know to tune in.
