So I guess this would be a good time to ask -- is any of the service included?

I assume no, but it would be a pleasant surprise if they are covering some of it.

The reason I ask is because I getting the feeling that parts/repair/service cost is going to be a major hidden expense of this car.

After seeing posts about a $400 set of brake pads and an $80 Lotus badge for the rear end, I am sure getting uneasy. Those are worse than Porsche prices!

Does anyone have any idea if the status of our warranty would change if we choose to do basic service ourselves? (e.g. oil/filter changes)

The fact of you performing regular schedule maintenance can not in itself void any warranty. The dealership has the Burdon of proof that your negligence or actions has directly caused any problems and or failures. Just make sure you keep good records.
