Hi. I have a 2005 Elise. The problem I am having is that the diverter that sends air between the footwell, defrost, and center is not working correctly. It only sends air to the defrost and to the footwell. Very little air comes out of the vents on the console that blow towards you.

Is there any fix for this that does not require pulling the clam?

TIA

One of 3 causes.
1) The control
2) The stepper motor
3) Rotary flap jammed
It may be possible to access the rotary flap by removing the main air duct that comes in from the climate box to the cockpit.

With advice from Sir Lotus I was able to adjust my heater unit somewhat.

I used to have no heat to the floor. I was able to remove the passenger side access panel at the front and wiggle the rotary flap.

It is not fixed but it is better. I used to have heat either to the defrost or the face vents but nothting at the feet. Now I have about 50% always going to the feet and the other 50% can go either to the defrost or the face.

You can adjust the flap without removing the clam but it is difficult to reach. I had my daughter help since her hands fit better than mine.
