Subject says it all, is there a problem in the pipeline?

My dealer (Palm Beach Motor Cars) was told that the car would be built in November, but has yet to hear anything from Lotus since then! Since this is an east coast dealer the cars would be built during the second half of the month.

It's December 7th and there is no port ETA or VIN.

I keep bugging my contact (Ryan Moore) at PBMC, who has been nothing but amazing in helping me out, but there doesn't seem to be any information flowing from Lotus USA.

Anybody in a similar situation?

The last few weeks of waiting are truly the most agonizing.

When did you get your port ETA and VIN?

You are probably in a worse situation than me since you are even closer to taking delivery and STILL don't know when it is supposed to get to the dealer.

I just hope mine has already been built. SY is a popular color, so I may get lucky with that.

We are DOOOOOOOOOMED! :p

My sig says it all. I was told 11/11 build date, then the dealer back-tracked and said he didn't know the build date, just a build month of November, and basically said "don't call us, we'll call you".

I still haven't heard anything.

I got my Vin# from Roger Becker who was at the L.A. car show. The car is being made this week and I have # 1716. It should be on the boat by Xmas and delivered to Long Beach by the end of January. He was very informative and has a eye on the L.A. fiasco with the dealership closing. He emailed me telling that they know the actual Vin's a few weeks before production, so you should obviously be able to get your vin if the car was built in November. It sounds like the dealer is hedging on this. I called my guy at the dealership and he shared with me that Lotus doesn't give them the info and he has gotten a few calls telling him their car should be at the dealer next week, which pisses them off. I agree, it makes the dealer look like idiots.

I thought cars that have just been invoiced were already in the 800's:confused:

Well I was never told of my build date even though I told them numerous times I needed 30-45 days advance notice so I could arrange time off work to drive or fly down to FL get my car.
I actually called to see if I could get my deposit back because they have a car at Maplecrest in nj that they have for immediate sale. Then I found out my car was supposed to be in port on 11/20. They were just about to call me .....rrrrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiggght.
I dont even know what build number I am. although I suppose its in the vin they gave me... ignorance is bliss!! :)

I have a vin of 777 (sounds lucky huh?)

But my dealer still has no idea where it is or when it might arrive in California.

According to the press, there has been a huge container ship backlog on the West Cost since July. As of November 20, the port backlog was cleared up (at least in the L.A. Basin). They are still clearing up the chaos caused by the backlog.

My Elise is coming in on the East Coast, so no delays ... My VIN is in the 1200's.

Ask your contact to get in touch with Lotus USA. Lotus USA receives build updates on a regular basis from the factory; all of the dealers are supposed to get them at least once a week. If your car is being built or is being shipped, it is supposed to be on the factory status update.

That is what my dealer told me anyway.

Same as others

I was told by my dealer, and independently confirmed by a Rep from LCU that my car was scheduled as the dealerships second build car in Nov. As of today, my dealer does not have a vin or build #, and has not received anything from LCU that indcates the status of my order. Sound familiar?

Seems like the info is finally flowing!

Just got a phone call from Ryan Moore Port ETA 12/25, Sealand Integrity.

Should have it mid-January if they aren't too backed up at the port.

FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY!!!

Also, I suspect that there's something wrong with the 1500Z position report. Either that or there's gonna be some really cool footage on the news tonight. The log shows a 73kt overland run.
