So here's the story. Wheels were delivered polished, had the tires mounted and the guy told me they wouldn't balance 100%. I knew 3 piece wheels were hard to get 100%, but thought he was exaggerating a bit.
Anyway, the next morning I go out the drive the car and one of my front tires is flat.... Took the wheel off, drowned it in water and realized the wheel was leaking b/w three pieces(I sold the stock wheels a few days before these arrived.) Kodiak said I could send the once back, but did not offer to pay for dismounting the wheel. I also didn't want to wait another 2+ months while my car sits on jack stands. ****, I've been waiting over six months for center cap adaptors(Kodiak said in an email that the economy has hit them hard and that is part of the reason they have not made them.)
Because they were leaking I decided to take them apart and have them coated black. Well, got them back together and the front two still won't balance.... Also, one of the rears is still leaking b/w the seal. They do look nice though!

Open to any offers. They will prob. serve as a tool to mount my water hose, or air hose if nobody takes them off my hands.
If Kodiak actually gave a damn, I'd pay to have them melted down(b/c of the endless headaches)

Sucks man - sorry for you.

I would also be fuming. On the other hand I would have also sent them back for a refund and picked up a set of $300 touring :)thwack:) wheels in the interim.

Props to you for not just selling them on Ebay

Didn't ask for a refund, just wanted them to work for me..... After they had been coated, I knew I couldn't ask. I ended up getting a set of Team Dynamics 1.4s, and will never again go the "custom" 3 piece wheel route (Almost had CCW make me some wheels, but Kodiak left a real bad taste in my mouth)

No, I doubt it. They would have fixed the initial leak, although now that they have been coated I doubt they will touch them. With the way the economy is they don't even have time to machine center cap adaptors, doubt they have time to fix wheels for "free." The porsche wheels they have on order are top priority. BS!!!
I'm not the only one that had issues with these wheels(A few have mentioned issues when balancing.) As far as I know I'm the only one that had problems with leaks.

Wow, that does suck. That’s one reason you pay the premium to get custom made 3 piece wheels. I had some Fikse's on a porsche and their service was top notch. They re-gasketed a set for me for very little money because they felt bad one leaked on me. This is a big ding to Kodiak in my eyes, and makes me feel good I chose Fikse at that time. I hope they make it right for you!

+1 for Fikses. I had a set on my RX-7, beautifully made wheels. They turned the screws inwards for me too so they were hidden.

Fikse makes some nice wheels. I had no problems with my I-Forged or Kinesis wheels I had on my previous vehicles either....

I will never again do business with Kodiak, and I don't recommend anyone on here do it either. Someone on the forum PM'd me and told me he had very similar issues when delivered(I'm not the only one that had a leak!)

Response to TopTech

Hi,

I'm always interested to see threads like this. Scream and yell, throw insults at a company and whine and complain. To my knowledge Mr. TopTech has never contacted us about leaking wheels or wheels that wont balance. Had he taken the time to call I would have been more than happy to help him out. The custom motorsports business is a tough one and many of us that are in it do it because we are passionate about the sport and want to be apart of something that isnt always available in the mainstream. We have always stood behind out product 100% and over the years, if we have had issues, have worked diligently with the customers to resolve them. Right now I have been emailed by a gentleman that purchased wheels from one of our customers. He states that the wheels are garbage and we should replace/repair them or he is going to start a class action law suit. I think people need to calm down and chill out. The gentleman states that the orginal owner never damaged them or used them and that the wheels were dented or bent when he got them. The orginal customer has never called us to talk about it yet the second owner is going crazy sending me emails threatening me over and over, even after I agreed to have him send the wheels back and we would change the rim shells out at no charge. What else can we do as a business? He didnt even buy the product from us. As far as the centercap issue goes, let me be clear. AT NO TIME DID WE AGREE TO INCLUDE CENTER CAPS WITH THE WHEELS. We were asked if the stock caps would fit and I stated yes they would, AS LONG AS I WAS GIVEN THE CORRECT DIMENSIONS. We were given the OD of the cap and not the step. It was a mistake on the drawing, not wanting to leave the gentlmen who set up the group buy hanging I agreed to make some new caps that would fit and send them out. Unfortunately, we have also suffered with the downturn and I have had to let a few guys go and we are working hard at keeping the equipment going and the bills paid and there hasnt been any available time to run the parts. It may seen hard to believe but its reality. Any of you that are close are certainly welcome to come by and have a look for yourself. We are not some big huge company that doesnt care about its customers, villify us if you wish but really all you have to do is call and explain the issue and we will sort it out for you. Hopefully this clarifies things and puts some of these issues to rest. By the way, it doesnt matter to us if a customer has done some work to the wheels themselves, we will still do what we can to ensure that they are happy with their wheel purchase. That means you TopTech!! Take care

I am not screaming or yelling... I did that enough to myself when I couldn't drive my car for 3+ months. I am merely stating facts. I do have emails that I have saved stating that the wheels were leaking the day they were mounted(April 16th at 10:39:12 AM CDT. is when I received your response about the issue... If you would like the response I would be happy to post it) My option was sending the wheel back or sealing them myself. After my initial wait I thought it would be best if I did it myself(Especially being I sold my stock wheels a few days before they arrived.)
