Hi guys,
Forgive me if this has been addressed elsewhere but a search didn't turn up an answer. I'm looking for an alternative to Freescan (I only have a new Mac laptop) and am hoping to find a simple code reader for my 89 non-se turbo. I would think it's an OBD1 for GM, but don't really want to guess. Do any of you use a simple code reader on these or should I go try to find an old PC laptop and buy Freescan?
Thanks.

Freescan and Espritmon are free.

You need the ALDL cable either way, that you do have to buy.

The only other alternative is a Tech1 scantool like the dealership would have used.

Pretty sure people have gotten freescan to run on a Mac with the Windows emulation...

Thanks Vulcan, I guess my specific problem is narrowing down the correct ALDL cable to use. I'm counting 10-pins on Esprit but all the ALDL cables i'm looking up have 12-16 pins. The LEW shop has Freescan packages that they sell but are sold out. I'll shoot an email to LEW and see if they can give me a source for the cable in the package.

It looks like Spence got the last USB adapter!

I might be able to get parts to make 5-6 more, but that will probably be it.
