Hello everyone,

I've been thinking about buying a Lotus since 2005. Been lurking forums for more information since then. From what I read, I heard that these cars can be quite moody and one must be mechanically inclined (a quality I do not possess). Still the thought of buying an "exotic" has been my pipe dream.

In late 2008, I was at a crossroad of choosing a new car, and the Lotus was still on my mind. But the wife said I should buy an automatic, so she could drive too..and unfortunately at the time, Lotus did not have an automatic option. So I chose a practical car and my pipe dream was put on hold.

Forward to now: my wife gave me the go ahead to buy a weekender car (maybe because I've been talking about it for 7 years), and so my search for the Lotus began.

Found one from a local specialist.

I hope to see fellow enthusiasts at meets and weekend rides. I don't think I'll be using this car for track. But I wouldn't mind going to the track to see others race/drive.

Congrats, see you on sunday if you can make it.

The only advice i can give you is to drive it defensively like a bike, the car being black will make it so lots of as.sholes won't see you.

Congrats.

Not sure if you know this, but you're one of the only people on the planet (maybe 5 or 6) that have an Elise with the Tesla double din conversion. Nice.

Also like what the previous owner did with 'glovebox' solution.

Enjoy!

I'm sure its different when you're married but when I hear things like "my wife will/not let me" I just shiver. Congrats on your Lotus though!

congrats...! nice car. i bought my Ardent Red/Biscuit '05 in early 2011 with 28k miles, 47 now. daily driver, 98% reliable. 200% more fun than any other car i've ever owned. i call mine "rElise"... heed advice on color and visibility of other cars, but that focus makes the car that much more special..enjoy!

Did Rob give you a good deal?
Define good deal?

To some it might not be a good deal. To me, it was good enough.

I saw other Lotus For Sale threads and some were cheaper, but they were located many states away. I didn't want to fly there, just to take a look and either be disappointed or figuring out a way to get it back here. Driving it back might be an option, but California has certain emission rules and I didn't know if it was worth the hassle.

I'm also not a haggler. With these cars, I don't think of them as normal cars where I'm at a dealership and able to get "X" dollars below invoice or Blue Book Value.

I was going to ask him about his buyer services, when he mentioned to another about Lotuses he had for sale..so what better way to build rapport with someone.

I had a choice between saving a lot of money for a salvage title Lotus, buying from out of state, looking at Ebay deals or this one, but this one had the Tesla double din features..and that sold me.

@LarryB - might have to take you up on that offer, one of these days, if I muster the courage.
