Question for previous Elise owners

How is the durability over the long haul? I'm wondering about the epoxy glue used to hold together the frame, body panels, etc. I would think the glue might erode or lose it's bond after so many years. But again I'm just speculating. It was just a curiosity I had.

So far no problems in the chassis bonding, even on 1996 cars.

Heck, even Dave Minter is still driving the original development Elise called 'Ruby' from the 'Project M111' video until this day with well over 100K of hard miles on it and it hasn't fallen apart yet :)

Bye, Arno.
the 111R/Fed car are in a different class than the other cars as far as build quality is concerned. It's unfair to even compare them.

However, if we're talking just that chassis, i believe that Lotus has never had a chassis come back from normal wear.

My car is a 96 car that I have had from new and the chassis is still perfect, which is more than can be said for the bodywork which now looks a little tired.:D
Lots of S1 elise out there with over 100K on the odometer.

Cool, thanks for all the replies. Just making me more anxious to get the car. I've actually been suffering from serious sleep deprevation for the past 2 weeks because of this car. Usually the last thing I do at night is browse this forum or look at pics of the Elise which then causes me to do nothing but dream about it and I can never fall asleep!

I have to do something different to really get my mind off of it like looking at pr0n or something. :D But that usually just drifts into me in an Elise anyway.
I've never heard of a chassis issue unless it resulted from an accident.

-eek- ivan1, you've scarred me for life! Now I'll be up all night with nightmares instead of dreams of Elise.
