At LoA there is a starsheild brochure that shows where the starshield is located on the car. I assume that other dealers have them as well. Does anyone have one of these brochures to scan?

What is not shown in the above pic, is the areas INSIDE the door.

And really, I am not sure it makes sense to shield those areas, but they decided to. The Starshield includes a strip on the front edge of the door near the mirror, a painted area that you can't see when the door is closed. The film also wraps around the bottom under the door and fully onto the horizontal painted section of the sill. Lastly, there is another strip covering the vertical section of the door sill that is covered when the door is closed.

You do get a lot of crap getting inside the door on the sills.

I'll second this one. I'm always amazed at how much crap gets on the door sill when the door is closed. It's black soot....maybe brake dust?

The side mirrors are not covered to the extent as shown above.
Good catch. In fact, they seem a bit skimpy and I assume were done in the method they used because it was hard to handle the small but curved surfaces.

I noted they seem skimpy and easily one could get some dings that will miss the film on the mirrors.

On the positive...so far my paint is.... staying alive...staying alive...ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin' alive.

uv

maybe this has already been covered, but does the starshield provide UV protection? It might be better if it doesn't provide UV protection.
i'm concerned that the paint underneath the starshield won't fade at the same rate as the rest of the uncovered paint.

Has anyone noticed any scratches/scuffs in the area marked in red on the photo? I have developed a few small horizontal scratches on the paint between the slats of the black trim - I suspect stones etc are hitting there...

Well...if you remove your rear underbody sheet metal, you'll find all sorts of rocks, sand, grit, gravel, leaves and so forth. I think the main ways in for most of it is the side of the body vents and the underbody NACA ducts. It seems like the side scoops would tend to allow air to follow the body contours ahead of them which would bring the debris in with it. Where it can hit things like the area in front of the slats.

Yeah, I've had to pick tire rubber (and the rocks that stuck to said rubber) off those slats after track days. They don't seem to get much abuse on the road, however.

no, they are deeper than that...I am pretty careful about drying, with microfiber cloth...fortunately they are not very noticeable as they are towards the back part of the side scoops -only came across them when washing the car....
