Hi all,
Anyone have a good location for mounting a rear oil cooler?
My front lines were leaking, and the original oil cooler had a crack, so I decided to ditch the whole deal, and use a remote mount oil filter, and rear mount oil cooler.
Remote mount filter is done, just need a good location for the cooler.
Thanks
Jeff

On my '86, the cooler was relocated to the back to make room for an intercooler in the front. The air cleaner was relocated to a custom airbox and the oil cooler is mounted where the old airbox was. To keep the oil temps down at idle, an cylindrical bilge fan was placed inline on the hose that goes from the side vent to the old airbox location. The fan is rigged to run all the time when the key is on, but it could probably be wired into a temp sensor if you wanted. Works great!

The early G cars (non turbo) had them mounted on the RH side of the engine low down and i have see ducting run from the sill scoop to the cooler on later turbo versions. There is one designed for the Elise/Exige that can be modified but its pricey (although the fan is included and mounted)
