Anyone going? (I meant July 19,20)

The ROVAL track seems fast...what are the highest speeds on the straights?
Will a stock Lotus do o.k. on this track?

ya you will have a blast. Its more fun than I expected it to be the first time. You can pretty much stay flat on the throttle all the way down the straight and through the banking without a lift. You will get smoked by the big power cars on the front straight but thats about it. I didn't have my data logger in last time but I think the speeds were ~125-130 on the front straight. I'll probably be there to watch and hang out.

edit: looks like I'll be out of town that weekend. have a blast.

Copy & paste from another Forum that the Redline guys posted in:

The 4th round of the 2008 Redline Time Attack Series is coming soon to AutoClub Speedway (formerly California Speedway) in Fontana, CA, the weekend of July 19th-20th. This will be the largest Time Attack event of the year, as the AutoClub Speedway event has always drawn out the most, and the highest quality of cars from across the Western United States. AutoClub Speedway is also a fan favorite as the race course is world renowned and provides up close viewing both on the track and in the paddock.

This year we'll be running the full 2.8 mile Auto Competition Course. This will be the first Time Attack event to use the full course and we expect the fastest cars to be hitting speeds in excess of 180mph on the high speed banked portion of the course!!!

We added a host of other attractions to this year's event to make it the ultimate destination for tuner and racing enthusiasts in SoCal. We'll have a full vendor midway, RC car racing and drifting action from RC Drift Club and HPI Racing, a HUGE JDM car show from the guys at JDM Theory, live music all day long, open garages and paddocks allowing you to get up close to your favorite drivers and cars, the All New Live Sockets Circuit Battle Series pitting the fastest tuner cars in the country in head-to-head "Touge Style" battles around the circuit.

Head over to our website for all of the information and to print off our $5-Off coupon for admission:

i don't think an N/A Lotus will keep up?

the M6 would be a high speed blast on the front straight and thats about it, the entire infield is pretty tight. The big power cars will run away from you on the front straight but after that you will be able to hold your own no problem.

I wonder if Manly Kao is going to enter this event. He won our season opening round at Buttonwillow... He has one of the fastest, if not THE fastest Street Class Lotus on the West Coast...
Yo Nik, whats up. I'll be there on Sunday for the TA only this time. I don't expect to run up front at CSW. The Roval is even more of a HP track than LS. And I was already 2.5 seconds slower than the top three runners at LS last Nov. FYI, my car is no faster than any other stock 2005 Elise. I still have factory suspension. And my car dyno'd at 165whp without a cat a few weeks after the BW event. Anyways, it will still be lots of fun participating and see all the familiar faces. See you and Chris on Sunday!! :)

Spoke to Manly yesterday and he did great, coming in 2nd in his class behind a 900 HP car  -- another example that HP can be over-rated....it's the driver stupid! :D :D

Congrats, Manly -- great job!

I believed he turned a 1:54xx on the Roval.... fantastic.

I had a chance to meet Manly and see him drive at the Time Attack. It was amazing. I saw him charging up on others as turns approached since he was braking a lot later than others. Didn't think his NA Elise would be able to edge out a modified Supra. Glad I was wrong!

All the other cars had several pit members tending to them. Manly was by himself. He'd hop in his car and drive off to the track. Upon return he'd get out, plop himself into a folding chair, and light up a cigar. Truly awesome!
