Well i took my Elise in for a new set of tyres and a local tyre shop damaged a rear rim with a tyre iron. They have sent the rim off for repair but I am concerned that it will come back the wrong colour. I am hoping that the tyre shop does the right thing..... hopefully.

It's all those exhaust fumes. You need to drive faster so they don't enter the cabin as much.

Same thing happened to me. I made an appointment after discovering the nicks in the rear rims.

The dealer brought in an alloy rim repair specialist. All of his equipment was contained in a trailer. Repair was performed in a short time while I waited.

Worse damage has been caused by tire dealerships.

:D
I think every lotus should take a photo of your car to the shop with them every time they get new tires... "you see this? if you dont use the right jack points you are buying me a new car!" :D

Thanks I will have a look. I'm in the South island in a small sea side village called Diamond Harbour.

It seems like a lot of other Lotus owners have had similar problems with tyre shops.
Now that is a location worth viewing in Google Earth (if you can't visit:)).

I'll be over in your neck of the woods in a couple of weeks :) - I've sent you a PM.
