I recently had my mechanic replace the rubber shift linkage boot on my 99 V8, but I was wondering if anyone knows where the round rubber part should go? (see where arrow is pointing in pic below).
I am thinking there are 3 possibilities:
1. It stretches over the metal ring (on the transmission).
2. It gets pushed inside the metal ring.
3. It stays loose (it's current configuration).
I'm thinking it might be #1, but I didn't want to stretch the heck out of it if that's not the way it's supposed to go.
Anyone know?
