Water leaks over the tanks

Water leaks over the tanks are caused by heaping holes in the fuel filler flap hinge area.
Remedy:
seal off the area with flexible rubber or urethane goo and add sections of the rubber "D" strips acting as H2O deflectors.

Don't forget to inspect the seals on the filler pipes, right under the caps. These seem to deteriorate more than the older types (prior to the GM caps).

Installing a stainless speed-bleeder makes bleeding a one person event. PN# SB3824.
This hack applies to all Esprits.

Even with the speed bleeder, the SC did not bleed properly.
Fix: remove two mounting bolts and flip the slave 180 degrees, bleeder at the top. Bleeds easy and effectively, now.

Charge cooler thermal insulation

Charge cooler thermal insulation:
-one layer of the Thermo Tec barrier glued to the bottom and left side of the c/c.

Additional insulation: Nimbus GII or Cirrus GIII Heat Shield Material and an additional layer of Thermo Tec at the bottom (facing the engine).

K&N Air Filter 33-2011 has the largest flow area of the three. It is obvious which one to use!
Have you tried a 33-2011? The other two fit the Esprit airbox as intended. The 33-2011's perimeter flange is too thick to fit with the large rubber "O-ring" gasket that is OEM stock, and too thin to seal in place without it. It would be up to you to add some other supplemental seal. Also, the 33-2011 is a limp noodle with minimal structure of it's own. In some of the airboxes (88 Esprit is the worst), it can be a bit of a 3-handed battle getting the 33-2011 and it's seal into place, and staying there while you do battle with the airbox cover. 33-2011 may win on surface area alone, but it sucks in every practical way.

K&N 33-2784 is a clone of the Lotus OEM filter, and fits perfectly, as it should. However, K&N doesn't stock it in North America, so they had 'nothing' to list in their North American catalog for Lotus applications. 33-2011 has a similar overall rectangular footprint, so they just threw it in the catalog as an alternative to nothing. And it's only marginally better than nothing... IMHO.

On my '85 turbo The 33-2011 filter stuck nicely into the recess in the engine bay panel, but the rest would not seal properly. To use it on my G-car, I siliconed a 1/8" aluminium perimeter plate to the airbox rim, and stuck some foam tape to the plate to seal against the filter.

The K&N 33-2784, the one that is a clone of the Lotus OEM filter, is available in North America from Lotus specialists... it's just not available from your local K&N retailer. JAE stocks it, and I believe Dave Bean may. Otherwise it's available from all the Euro/ Oz sources, such as SJ Sportscars, PNM Engineering, etc.

Heads Up Display from eBay

I bought a GPS HUD, model ADD-W1, Green Color LED, #5678567
I have tested it today and it works very well.

It comes with a lighter plug-in power supply.

I have hard wired it by tapping for +12V into the clock hot wire + relay, activated by the fuel tank gauge ignition feed (green wire)
