Mechanical Boost Gauge

After my Caerbont gauge tried to play "hide and seek" with me, I decided to install a VDO vacuum/boost gauge.
With this new gauge in place, I took a couple of spirited runs and noticed that the needle never reached 1Bar.
No, no, no, I'm not complaining.
I'm just amazed at how capable S4s engine is! I had plenty of right foot travel left!
Just wondering, what would happen if I completely floor it...

I can't imagine how awkward it must be for regular owners to start up a hill, be bent over to work the parking brake, while steering and working the pedals. Maybe there was some safety concern about easily getting access to it between the seat and door.

Thats has got to be loud

I have seen that car several times and it is well kept and John is a super nice guy and will spend lots of time showing you around his car.

Might be nice to bolt on for track days and then go back to something a bit more muffled for driving around

I agree, this is not a system for your granny's Buick, LOL.
For the purpose of an academic discussion: installing a larger muffler, like 18" body and/or 6" dia would make the note much lower and perhaps quieter.
Also, it would add about 5 lb.
Great chance, that 6" muffler may be sticking out below the air foil.

Light weight performance exhaust

Finally, I did it and I'm very happy. Removed some dead weight, improved flow and sound note.
Only 13 lbs (vs 33 lbs OE).
Note: Nuts at the turbo flange were... 11/32" and not 17mm !

This is 2.5" system, like OEM, but David Vizard says the 3" would be more appropriate for the 910 turbo.
IMO, 3" systemt could be easily fabricated of the bits from eBay and Amazon.
FYI: Magnaflow 3" in/out polished muffler number PN# 14619.

The exhaust looks identical (in form and quality) to the Micklewright batch that Players Forsythe made up. I would recommend either a heat shield or material as it sits a lot closer to the rear bumper and the exit end of the muffler gets VERY hot and can melt things in a hurry (ask me how i know :facepalm)

It is, indeed! Only 30 made.
Have you attached it to the OE CAT or CAT-delete pipe? Makes difference in temps at the muffler.

@Sanj had the Magnaflow part number....

Regards the sound, we fitted the Micklewright system to yellow hornet's car a decade (and three computers) ago, and our Bosch car still sounded throatier than his de-catted S4s. (IMO of course.) Sorry, I can't find the comparison sound files.

The sound was a LOT nicer than stock, though. YH hasn't had any heat related issues that I know of...

Good point, it was definitely caused by installing the cat delete pipe as there was no melting or warping prior to the 'upgrade'. It caused the lower section of the bumper directly above the muffler outlet to partially melt, and the black body paint above that to melt and drip on to the pipe. Its not visible from the rear, you have to lie underneath and look up, but it was scary enough to address it immediately. If you have a Micklewright and a cat delete pipe i would recommend going underneath for a safety check as other than the exhaust the car had no other performance mods.

Esprit rear brakes upgrade

I have assessed feasibility of installation of the EVORA S 4 pot rear brake calipers, A132J4023F & A132J4024F.
Required parts: outboard 1/2" wheel spacers to clear inside webs of the wheels, mounting brackets to attach calipers to the swing arm, high strength bolts, custom brake lines with banjo fittings.
Old, one piston calipers will function as an emergency brakes only.

Dangerous, good looking upgrade on the rear braking.

Is the 1/2 spacer needed so that the (leading) caliper clears the swing arm on the inboard side?

Any thoughts on brake balance? Guessing the 4-pot has much greater piston area than the stock caliper. Maybe a brake bias valve upstream is also needed?

No, the wheel spacer is required to bring the wheel out. It may be less than 1/2" for other wheels, but my Nova back side spokes slightly curve inboard at the barrel.
Since I have rather big AP racing calipers at the front, the balance has been naturally restored.
