If any of you are looking for a good excuse to make a visit down San Diego way, this is a pretty good excuse. The San Diego Council of British Car Clubs, of which the San Diego Lotus Club is now a member, is hosting its annual British Car Day Saturday 13 October. We will have an SDLC “booth” at the event promoting the club and the Marque. There's also a link to the event on the SDLC website.

Held at Spanish Landing Park East, just across Harbor Drive from the Lindbergh Field airport, San Diego British Car Day is an annual event, showcasing the best of British vehicles. With grassy areas, shade, cooler temperatures and located on next to San Diego Bay, with the Coronado Bay Bridge and North Island Naval Air Station in the background, Spanish Landing Park East is a beautiful showcase for our cars.

Held on a SATURDAY this year, so that afternoon traffic is less of a problem; a large turnout is anticipated.

The theme this year is "The Tradition of British Racing and Rally Cars”; Those with historical, but not always show quality, British cars are urged to come forward. Telling the stories of Racing and Rally cars through the cars themselves, they are physical tributes to a long and honored pastime. A special award will be given for the Racing and Rally exhibits.

This is a judged event with awards given by Marque. There is a standalone class for Lotus. We presently have 5 cars committed to participate. The number of awards presented is determined by the number of entrants in each class. Awards depth works like this:
4 entrants needed for 1st
8 needed for 1st & 2nd
12 needed for 1st, 2nd & 3rd.

It would be pretty cool to see a bunch of Lotus in this event as they are certainly among the best of all British vehicles! Respond to this post if you think that you might attend. Or better yet, register and participate. We hope to see you there.
