Some More
I agree that most supercars are pretty pointless, as the performance envelope is way outside of what you could use on the road and an old E30 with a roll cage probably makes a better track car. The McLarens being made now have been panned by some critics as being too bland because they ride decently, are easier than most Lambos, etc. to drive in traffic, and their handling isn't too tricky.the Macs are impressive bits of engineering no doubt, but Im guessing build quality isnt any or much better than Ferrari.
My logic is this: there is no point to any sort of supercar except being cool or interesting.
They dont make good track cars, they don't make good driving around cars, they don't make good GT cars.
They are good for being cool, selling magazines, and 3 second blasts to 120mph to scare you friends every now and then.
IMHO old cars are cooler than new cars, in general. I think I just wrote a few sentences trying to say I like the f40 better "just because".

The F40 doesn't seem as useful as the Mc's do in this respect, but seem too 'modern' if a pure driving experience is what you're after. I think that sports cars from the 50's/60's are cooler, even if the F40 can run rings around them.
In the end, an updated Elise/Exige with McLaren upgrades in technology would be more my cup of tea than anything McLaren or the other exotics make. It won't happen, as has been discussed in detail on this forum.
+2Id still take the f40 over any of those macs.......its fast enough and cooler.
