I recently moved to San Diego from Denver and my check engine light came on and my car now sounds like a lawnmower. I'm thinking it may be fouled plugs or misfiring. It's a 2005 Elise.

Anyhow, I'm looking for a repair shop. I live in Ocean Beach. Any help is much appreciated :)

I had a good experience with San Diego European Motorcars...but they are pricey...you could afford your own OBDII tool to read the error code and/or a new set of plugs for the cost of just talking to those guys.

The car might be having a hard time adjusting to the new altitude. Try resetting your ECU as well..those are all easy things you can try first.

my 2 cents.

Thanks Mike. I've had the car hear for awhile and it was running great. I was doing about 110 mph when the light came on and engine sounding bad. Luckily I was within 1 mile of my house so I nursed it back home.

I'll try the ECU reset, but I'm pretty sure there's a larger issue.

Thanks for the advice.

ah...yeah that certainly doesn't sound like a ECU issue...good luck! I bet you were enjoying having all of your hp back...since you lose so much in Denver!
