How much down do you suppose a side splitter with a 1"-8" wind surface area (it's diagonal to accommodate the underside).

I'm thinking of just using VHB tape to secure them to the car. It's a relatively light weight item (CF,1cm thick). I'll be using probably way more tape than needed as a single square inch of this stuff will hold something like 10 lbs

feedback from anyone with experience with this is greatly appreciated.

VHB is pretty strong stuff, but for some reason the Reverie CF side skirts are rivetted onto the Elise.

I don't think downforce is the biggest problem. Inevitably you will catch your foot on it. I recently made side skirts for my Elise and was able to use 5 existing screws to support it plus two new screw. You can't stand on it, but it can be lightly kicked without a problem. The VHB tape may work great, but one screw in front and back would be good insurance against the tape failing and the side skirt falling off.
