Seloc just did a sprint at North Weald in the UK. Mostly Elise's, but also a prototype Caterham with a V8 (320hp) - two bike engine heads with a custom block the whole thing weights less than the Rover K, which weights nothing itself. Plus a supercharged Honda S2 which was unbelievably quick.

Thread is here Clicky

Yours truly proving that once and for all that grass has less grip than concrete. Don't try this at home folks :D (No marshal's were damaged, you'll be pleased to hear)

The driver needs to look further ahead it appears. You can get a sense of this from the helmet position at times. This reminds me a bit of autocross but with much longer straights and much fewer and less sharp turns. Looks like great fun.

The driver is Andrew Walsh who runs carlimits http://www.carlimits.com/ he's considered a bit of a driving god over here. Was a test driver for Benetton when they had an F1 team.

This was the first outing for the Caterham with the V8, and it proved to be a bit of a handful the car is running 3 way Nitron dampers which still need to be sorted.

That event was heald at North Weald where they hold the 1st Lotus driver training classes, so Andy drives some variation of that course practically every day. I bet he could nearly do it with his eyes closed.

Imagine driving a 1200 lb. 320 hp Lotus Seven that hasn't been properly set-up. The car is obviously a handful and he's fighting it every step of the way. Once he's got it hooked up, it's going to be rediculously fast.

Ian, it wasn't your Elise that Walshy hopped into and went faster in, was it?
