First the floor mats...I have never seen a situation where it is so damn difficult to get factory floor mats for a car...but finally I got a call from Criswell parts fellow (he handles Lotus and Corvette..how convenient that I only have to go to one person for both cars  ) saying that Lotus has told him the floor mats are within a week of being shipped out...these mats better whistle Dixie when placed

Now to service advisories...prior to taking the Elise in for the 1000 mile service I wanted an updated of two issues:

-AC starting cold and then dropping to barely cool: Lotus officially recognizes there is a design problem and as of yet do not have a fix...working on it. Good that cool weather is upon us although we didn't have it as bad as you Elise drivers way down south and into Texas.
-Shift light flickering: again Lotus officially recognizes there is a problem but as of yet do not have a fix. Flickering is just an irritant and I assume the shift light works for what it is supposed to do..have not taken Elise into that rpm range to activitate it..but now with a 1K+ miles me thinks it is time to give it a shot :D

As an aside...continue to love the Porterfield pads...no squeaks, excellent braking and bite and of course a fraction of the dust...they got it all...better performance and low dust!

That's it for now...

It's a low volume car. Lotus had some prototype accessories made but needs to sell some Cars in the USA to sell the bits. How many folks will buy the floor mats? Probably very few. In any event Lotus has to contract with a supplier to have them made, and order a very small quantity, and take second seat to the big companies that order a gazillion mats. They may need to take orders and then have folks wait until they can place a large enough order.

You can have them embroidered locally by a specialist place. There are some matt places that will do onesies and twosies via computer controlled embroidery. BTW many of the accessories in the "Lotus Accessory" book besides the floor mats are not yet available. For a little company this is normal and responses from the brochure help them decide what to actuall produce, and distribute.

Issues like this tend to be less of a problem if the manufacturer raises the price of a vehicle substantially. Then there is enough money to deal with harsh economic realities. Hmm..cars like Ferraris have very few options and accessories compared to the Elise! That is interesting.

This is the first I've heard of someone else having this problem. It was driving me nuts and I thought something might be really wrong. I could really only notice it at night since the flicker was so dim.

After my first service it never happened again. I didn't mention it to the service tech so I don't know what he did (if anything). He also fixed the reverse ring on the shifter which kept sticking.

There were a couple of threads about the flickering. Some folks said the problem disappeared after they put some miles on their cars.

Thread on flickering

That might be nice. How much??

And with respect to the other comment about Lotus needing time to develop a line of accessories, I don't buy it. They have been selling this car for several years - don't the Europeans like floor mats?
