Well like the title says.
For the past 6 years I've been racing auto-x locally, I keep getting 3rd fast time.
Except when its raining :)
My car is stock on R888
The only rule we have is 180 tread wear and up in stock class
Everything under in super stock.
Its a small club and we like to keep it easy :D
The guys beating me are in modified ( 650+ HP ) cars , two C6 vetts and one M3 all on race tires
I'm usually 2nd or 3rd cause my car is a bit more consistent :UK:  It hasn't blown up lol.
I know there will be a bunch of people telling me to take race classes :facepalm
I have and will take more, biggest problem is the nearest place for that is of 500 miles away :(
Other people will say don't worry about their times because they have different kinds of cars.... to you I say take a hike  losing suxs lol.
I'm looking to gain 2 seconds on a 60 second track.
I'm about a second and a half back most times.
Other then after a really big night out on the town when I had about 6 beer to many and I tried to auto-x the next day, I have hit about 1 cone for every 9 times out.
Back to my question...
If I buy a tire like the A6 can I expect a 2 second gain .... with out making any changes to my car, like I said ... I'm lazy rotfl
By the way the guy getting 4th is in a modified mini on race tires :UK:
He is less then a half second back most days.
On a side note we had the Corvette invitational race up here the last two years in a row.
Because I helped out I was able to run at lunch break, I was faster then all the stock Vetts and two of the six super stock vetts
I also got a chance to do two runs in a stock C6 Z06 with 505 HP after the event was done, I got fast time by 1/10 :coolnana:

I'll first establish credibility by saying I have zero autox experience and zero track experience...

I say this only half-jokingly: Hit more cones! 1 cone/9 runs sounds pretty controlled. How often are the 2 beating you hitting cones, out of curiosity?
How much HP do you have? It sounds like you are running against modified high HP cars.
A6s will get you maybe 1 sec vs the R888. Shocks will also help as will our sway bar in getting the most out of the car, even for the "laziest" of owners!

I've been looking at shock/spring and sway bar as well as breaks.
Seems like a lot or work lol
@ LenMcC I would say that the top 10 guys are about the same when it comes to hitting cones, but the top 5 seem to be able to miss them more often;)

Only one second on the A6 :(
I was hoping for more..... the mini that's behind me takes off around 5 seconds when he switches from stock type tires to his kumos.
The Vetts are completely un drivable without their race tires.
The BWR front bar will make a HUGE difference - it did on my car and makes it transition wonderfully without having to chase the tail at all. It took me a bit of time to get used to the higher limits with the bar but it adds up to real time in the end.

+1 on BWR swaybar
You don't want to do racetrack schools. You want to do autocross schools. Evolution or Solo Pro.

Go to a Test&Tune event and find an instructor.
Probably just too damn many emoticons weighing the car down.
Oh, and A6's gave me roughly 3 seconds over R888s.
A6's about 2.
Shocks about 2.
Sector V2 arms 1.
Fred's bar, maybe 3. Really helps in the Slaloms with both our Loti.
Get a good corner balance too.

um, what?
What's the question..................

Either I got better at driving or..................

Better stick on A6's, like gum! Nitrons ummmm do I need to explain??? Camber do I need to explain???????, BWR bar........anyone that has used one will know! Once you have done any of those mods corner balance your car.

Honestly.........the BWR bar is the best money spent and it keeps the car settled, along with the shocks and the negative camber from the arms.

Was questioning if you're claiming those were seconds gained each mod/part added.
No.........Not if you total them up. Each will get you some time but your not going to gain 8 sec. I will say with all of them installed you will see a change. Sorry.
Try the bars first, least expensive.. then A6's when you need new rubber
Remember each step also needs relearning, the car will be different.
I will back up Phil's suggestion. The cheapest, most valuable thing to look at is you.

Step one: Put hot shoe in your car
Step Two: Learn stuff until you are as fast as him/her.
Step three: Spend money on car ****.

:)
