Silver remains the world's leading color for cars, according to DuPont Automotive's half-century-old survey of new car color choices. The 'Top Ten' are:
1. Silver 20.2%
2. White 18.4%
3. Black 11.6%
4. Med/dk gray 11.5%
5. Light Brown 8.8%
6. Med/dk blue 8.5%
7. Med Red 6.9%
8. Med/dk green 5.3%
9. Bright Red 3.8%
10. Dk Red 0.9%

Are those numbers for the entire last 50 years?

I seem to remember a similar survey which had numbers for just the last year, and I remember it being much more dramatic, like 30% silver with nothing close to it....

I really don't understand the silver thing For most cars, I personally think it's one of the worst color choices... but I know I'm in the minority here ;)

frukio - I think you're right may have seen the same thing - last year and U.S. only - silver was WAY out in front.

But two years from now it might be "turkey sh*t tan". Tastes change you know.

For the previous year (2002) the 'Du Pont' list was:
1.Silver 22.8%
2.White 15.2%
3.Black 12.0%
4.Med/dk blue 10.9%
5.Med/dk gray 7.0%
6.Med Red 6.9%
7.Lt Brown 6.4%
8.Med/dk green 5.0%
9.Bright Red 3.3%
