I slightly rounded the corners of the fins. There are two 3/4” holes in main element. And at one point I had a wastegate dumping out the hole, which I’d later patched with sheet aluminum and aluminum tape, as shown. Fully serviceable. Some wear but no tears. No dents or bends.
