But I don't appreciate the way that soft top attaches ... as seen in the 5th photo from the top.

What exactly it is you don't like about the softop attachment? The picture distorts the view, the two separate ribs are symmetrical, it's certainly not humpbacked as the pic kind of makes it look. The top is very easy to put on take off and is a really nice elementary design. Also like the fact that it's not saddled with a complex frame.
