Everyone knock on wood and hope that you never get caught at a high rate of speed by the long arm of the law:evil:... but, I'm sure many of you have some great stories about getting pinched...lets hear 'em. Also, curious what kind of radar detector gear everyone is running....

V1. Only thing I trust... Fibreglass is transparent to radar so I have no problem picking up radar behind me even though I have my detector sitting low in the front windshield.

Just got pulled over buy smokey on the way back from Sebring. My father in his Elise, Me in my Exige. they claimed we were doing 90... bull**** ... cough. Turned out to be really nice guys and they knew my bother in law (lieutenant in another county) So we got off with a warning. They thought it was hilarious Father and Son Lotus speeders.. lol

Funny, Because someone ripped off my V1 while in Sebring .. Scumbag.. Anyhow just bought a new one and installed it today. V1 rules all.

You are crazy, I have gotten warnings on the v1 way before my friends with Escorts do. I have used both and I could never survive without the arrows again either.

V1 - with "Matt's Bracket" - and a concealed display in the driver cubby.

I don't have a lot of time with it yet - but so far am impressed - typically seeing signals a mile out. I do get a lot of false alarms (X & K Bands) - but am learning how to tell the fact from the fiction (This is where the arrows come in handy). Ka Band is money - Always an officer - and at least here in South East Michigan - seems to be the preferred band of police. I'll never drive without it again. Saved me a couple times already this year (Ka Band). We will see with laser detection...

My only trouble with the Elise came from looking suspicious while driving the speed limit on a twisty canyon road north of town (ok, so I guess seeing an Elise doing that IS suspicious I'll admit). Myself and the KG Elise that was following had a nice chat with the sheriff, that's about it (along the lines of, "you guys aren't up here to do some speeding, are you?" lol). My V1 alerted me to her presence a couple corners before we got to her. But of course I wasn't speeding. ;)

The closest I came to jailtime was years ago in my MR2 driving from CA to OR. It had been a fantastic, traffic-free morning and my speeds were growing, I was driving faster than I ever had before. After seeing a CHP going the opposite direction I slowed down to about 85 and hoped he wouldn't come after me, ended up getting a ticket written up for that after listening to the officer threatening to take me to jail (and with that, and the speed I WAS traveling, I felt lucky with an 85mph ticket!). Where I really screwed up, though, was as I was slowing to a stop on the side of the road, I was also stuffing the radar detector under my seat, advice I had read in a car magazine previously. The officer got to my door a lot quicker than I expected so what he saw was a driver reaching under his seat, NOT a good first impression to make with a traffic cop. First thing the cop asked me to do was step out of the vehicle and walk to the back, no way I was getting away with a warning after that.

Hold down the power switch to change the sensitivity from Highway to City to hybrid. It helps get rid of those extra signals around town.

I hate SUV's with laser back up systems that trip the laser sensor... Yet one more reason to hate those things...

I got tagged for 81 in a 60, I was really going about 90 but he was either stopped on the side of the road or way behind me. I saw him in my mirror about half a mile back flashing his lights in the lane next to me and figured he was headed to an emergency as I had already slowed down but right when he got behind me he switched lanes and pulled me over. Also tagged me for no front plate, I need to start using my radar detector again.
