So, Spike TV sent us a "sneak peak" at that Introduction of "52 Favorite Cars".

Check it out: http://www.52favoritecars.com/52Faves_Intro.mov

If you're registered here, you got (or are getting!) the email that explains why we go this advance "peek". If you're not registered here, register now and you'll be that much more informed! ;-)

I keep thinking "S2" when I see those 52 ads during MXC. Thanks Randy, I've seen a yellow and red elise in their general promo, and I've been wondering what show they would feature the Elise.

err - no disrespect, but sending bulk mail out is borderline spam...

it would not be so bad, but this has no relevance to those of us NOT in the US of A

Point taken.

I get emails from SELOC every couple of weeks about a local event in the UK. I just toss it. This is the only email ever sent from this site. Kinda tough to weed out international emails.

I don't expect you will see this as a normal practice.

OK,

Sorry if my post seemed a bit harsh, but when you have a mailbox that gets in excess of 300 spams a day, I am sure you get the point...

www.mailblocks.com

I get upwards of 900 spam emails a day, and this cuts everything down, so i only get legit email. Best part is, it's only $25/yr for 100mb.

back on topic ... unfortunately, i'll be flying back from Whistler on Sunday, and won't be able to catch the show. Any word on if it will be repeated, and what those dates are?

The number I get is insane. Luckily I don't see most of them. The problem with having a large number of domain names and everyone allowing infinite numbers of email names, eventually you get a lot of your emails on spam lists.

Just wanted to say Simon, on second thought, I should have mass PMed. Didn't think of it.

Hey Randy
Thanks for the reminder. The preview seemed pretty cool, I hope it not too much of Bling, Bling! I am not expecting a Top Gear type program.

BTW: Quit Spaming my Mail box!!! :D

I delete the mailbox and make a new one with a different name, like any sane individual.

When you signed up for this board, you were given the ability to opt-out of emails like the one just sent. If you don't want 'em, change your preferences.

Point taken, but when you rely on keeping a mail address, that's NOT an option (much the same as changing phone numbers etc.)

As for your other suggestion, that's not entirely helpful if somebody actually wants to contact you.

I thought I was in trouble.

I get about 20 spams a day. Now that I am using Earthlink's spam blocker, known spam gets sequestered into one file where I can delete it quickly or ignore it and wait for self-cleaning. Suspect spams go into a second folder - I look at these and add the desirable folks to my address book and turn the others into known spam. Doesn't decrease the number of spams that I receive, but makes it easier to deal with, as I can count on just finding real messages in my mailbox.

HI Simon,
Please rest assured that Randy only would send out a group email that he thinks would be of interest to the group. He's very protective of our addies and hates spam with a passion.

We really appreciate all you guys from UK and the Rest of world participating in this forum, you're an extremely valuable source of real info on living with these outstanding cars!!
Thanks

A few emails a year does not seem onerous.

BFD.

Hmmm. 1 'spam' per year/(300 spam/d * 365) = 0.0009%

Itchy trigger finger?

Maybe he just had a bad day. I've blown up on people before regarding spam as well. I get 200+ junk mail messages/day. With my spam blockers on high, I still receive more than 20 in my inbox/day. When I leave town, I have all sorts of problems because my mailbox fills and I stop receiving email all together. On all my trips now, I go into internet cafes just so I can clean my inbox. I rarely actually read any email.

Besides, Simon has an excuse for blowing up. He's British, and they all love to find reasons to complain :D :p

Ouch!

that's a bit sharp!

All I did was point out that sending blanket E-Mails may not be such a great idea, (and thanks for the reply's Chris and Randy).

This does not constitute a 'Blowup' or stereotypical 'Brit' behavior does it?

I'm in exactly the same boat as you Lillie in terms of spam. Funny what you said about internet cafes - I travel a lot out of the country and find myself having to do the same thing.

In terms of proportionality, I'd look at other places before Elisetalk to relieve this problem. One or two mass emailings a year vs. a stiff 5-10 Viagra spams a day. At least the guy from Nigeria asking to help unload millions of dollars went away...

Simon - I see no difference in getting an email that tells me I have a new PM, vs. just getting the email. No great deal. Just busting your 'bollocks' a little. As 1FASTMX5 said, turnabout is fair play. But, we welcome all Brits, even if you do boil perfectly good meat. :D
