I picked up my 06 Storm Titanium Elise on Wednesday AM. I dealt with Mr. Ed Sanson.

As I was driving in from Rochester, NY in my Boxster S I was trading in, I wanted to arrive early to be back on the road for the holiday at night. Ed opened up early for me and as I pulled into the parking lot at 8:00, My car was in front ready to go. Ed had a complete folder for me listing all of the normal questions answered that might arise during my few first few days ownership prepared in the folder for reference. This also included the Lotus clubs etc. He spent all the time I needed to go over each feature and as Lotus owner himself, showed me all of the little thinks I needed to know (stuff not in the owners manual).

Sports and Specialist Cars is basically a really cool place for rich middle aged guys to buy their toys (sorry Ed, you know its true). (I did not tell Ed I barely graduated from high school and really had no business coming in the front door! Shows you that you can fake out a car salesman) Lotus is their premier brand but they handle all exotics. What I found fascinating is their service department. They had a staff of really high end mechanics (no Mr. Goodwrenches there) that were doing everything from rewiring a Lotus that was eaten from the inside out by mice when stored to converting a car from left to right hand drive to a guy could use his car in overseas while was there. Basically the place had a ton of really cool cars.

A note about the Elise after my experience of owning 3 Porsche's and one Corvette. The Elise is a totally different car, in my opinion basically a race car that can be driven on the street. This is exactly what I wanted, a raw visceral preference. My car had less that 1300 miles on it and was traded in by a gentlemen after only 9 months. The Elise is a raw, powerful car that will never let you forget what it is. I mean you never stop hearing the sound of the engine, never stop feeling each joint in the road and if you play with your cell phone for a moment and not drive the car with your full attention, it will be in a ditch in about 2 seconds. It is like it is on rails the steering is just so sharp.

The Elise is not for everyone, frankly its not for most people. If you want a raw driving experence, the Elise will give you that in spades. If you want a cool car that you can drive to the mall etc, get something else.

In short, Sports and Specialist took very good care of me and I look forward to future business with Mr. Sanson.

Thank you everyone! We are blushing!

Dhepler: You really "get" the Elise. Thank you for coming from such a long distance to become a Lotus driver.

:up::up: from me also. I remember one time I was waiting for my car to be serviced and there was construction going on right outside. Two construction workers walked in and one of them was interested in the Elise and Ed treated him just like any other customer anwering all his questions and I think even a test drive. Another time I was there, a teenager walked in and again Ed took the time and gave him a test drive. for giving the same respect to all their potential customers.

Just another positive vote for S&S. I also traded a Boxster for the Elise at S&S back in 2005 and they have serviced the car ever since. They are the best around.

it's great that you had a good experience.
a basic rule of a good salesman is that he never knows who has the money in his pocket, no matter how a customer may act or be dressed.
enjoy!

i'll throw in a big kudos to Ed, Robert, Jim, Paul and the entire crew!

they do treat everyone quite well. from the first time Lotus owners (like myself) to the experienced gents with 'important' cars in their collection.
