After running my car pretty hard this weekend the throttle body started making a squeaking / squealing noise at lower RPMs. Anyone know what this is or why it would squeak?

It is the metal box right after the piping from the airbox.

If you mean the metal piece in the center of your picture, that's the throttle body. No idea why it's squeaking, unless the DBW stuff is making noises. I haven't noticed mine squeak, but then I never listened for it either.

Not that I know of.

Well sure there's a way. You just have to run some wires and rig yourself up a TPS wherever you would like to actuate the throttle.

Ah, the beauty of an 05. All you do is have to pull the cable right on the throttle body.

Did you remove your snorkel? I notice after I did, on colder days and when I first start the car, it seems squeaky sometimes. Never really bothered into looking to see where it comes from as it usually goes away in several minutes.

Vacuum leak? Does the noise change with rpm/load? Tone goes up with rpm?

Has the idle rpm also gone up?

It starts at about 2900 rpm, the pitch goes up a little but above 4k rpm the exhaust is so loud you can't really hear it. It doesn't sound like the pitch gets higher and higher, it is more constant I would say.

I'm thinking about taking the belt off and starting the car to see if it has something to do with the idler pulley or broken alternator bracket (suggested by another member).

I'll try to get video if I can't figure it out tomorrow.

still no clue, I'm afraid to drive the car b/c i don't want anything coming loose and getting injected.

It started when I got to the track, did 2 sessions with no problems but then the big wire on my alternator broke.

Any clue what this could be???? I'd hate to take it to the dealer!

i went to google and typed in: squealing noise from throttle body and up came a mustang website with a bunch of guys complaining about squeaking from the throttle body. They came up with the conclusion that you had to sand the edges where the throttle body meats the plenum, I'm thinking about trying this.

I did not install my supercharger so I don't know if there are sharp edges on the thing that the throttle body mounts to. Don't you have to cut something in this area during the install? the manifold?

You might try the Celica boards, it's a Toyota DBW throttle body.

for anyone listening... took the throttle body off (pretty easy 5 screws) and took the black plastic cover off the back. The butterfly has some free movement due to the plastic gear that connects the butterfly gear to the actual motor. Put some tape on the gears to see if I could eliminate the play. re-assembled and started car. STILL SQUEALING...

going to try to clean everything (filter/throttle body) and re assemble. im really damn curious to know what this is.

PS: be careful taking off throttle body when car is HOT, those two smaller lines are coolant and sprayed all over the place!

I have the exact same problem. Sounds more like buzzing. It is indeed the DBW servo, and can be indicative of future failure. Was another thread called "bees in throttle body" or something like that. I emailed that thread starter and he said he unplugged his throttle body while car off but key in ingnition and electronics on. Then he replugged in and buzz was diminished and he has learned to live with it. I think mine is very annoying, havent yet tried his solution as am on vacation. It reminds me of a 1950s pinball machine when you hold the flipper button continuously. Annoying.

The other thread was started by cpeteod. Im likely going to drive til it dies, then buy replacement. From what I understand there is no complete cure except expensive total replacement of throttle body.
