Stage II Exhaust Visual?

Dear All:
Can anyone tell me how to identify whether an Elise has the Stage II Exhaust installed? I've seen pictures posted somewhere on this forum. Is it just the cut out of the exhaust portion of the car or are there other identifying features?

If you don't see an exhaust then it is a stage 2. The stage2 is almost flush with the diffuser opening.
Here are some pics of the exhaust. Toward the bottom of that page.

Maybe that helps.

Quite a difference! The photo immediately above looks like a hack job: poor cutting of the undertray and the tips not out far enough and/or angled incorrectly. Stan's photos (yellow car) look MUCH better. How do you know what you'll get from the dealer?
probably the hack job..:)

im not sure i like the flush tips....looks kinda weird.

It's functional..it feeds the ground effect action with the energy of the exhaust. This is illegal in F1 and Indy cars BTW!

If Lotus were trying for bling they'd just stick 2 or 4 tips out the back where you can see 'em.

It's also sending exhaust into a low pressure zone, and so can't hurt in terms of helping the exhaust.
It's incredible how Lotus is a very disorganized company in building cars: today if you wanna get the stage 2 exaust you have to cut the rear diffuser!!!!

I don't know who had wrong the dimensions of the s2ex.: janspeed that builts it or Lotus that ordered it to janspeed?????
It's ugly to see too, i prefer it outside of the rear diffuser not inside it.

I hope at least that the performance are better than original, anyone that have tested original and s2 can tell us if the s2 is better?

Well no matter what...the Federal Elise's exhaust is setback and hidden compared to most other cars. From a standing position you have to get way back from the Elise to even see the exhaust tips. Or bend down, get on your knees... For the PICs I took (see above), I sat on the ground a bit behind the car to get a decent view of the Stage 2 Exhaust.
It looks like Stan's Stage 2 points more back than down. I guess the installer has a bit of leeway. It looks like his tips are a bit closer to the diffuser. Here is a pic of mine.

I will post my pics as soon as I swap mine out. I opted for the Quicksilver aftermarket exhaust. I think mine might the 1st one installed (as soon as I put it on). It should be no different than stock, but should sound as good as Stage 2. Or better. Or worse. We'll see...
I'm not going. I'm autoXing Saturday at Nazareth.
