Steve Harris Imports update(Utah)

I thought I would make this a new thread as it appears that everything else here has been Hijacked. Now that I have said that this one is probably destined to the same fate.
I think everyone (including me) is delirious with the total anticlimax of customer deliveries.
Anyway dateline 30th July 2005:
Talked to the dealership yesterday. It appears that the ship in the Panama Canal last week has 3 cars for delivery to Salt Lake City. This is 1 demo car (non LSS) and the first two customers cars (both LSS cars!). The ship is supposed to be in port sometime today for delivery in approximatly 15 days. Hopefully the delay in docking has now been resolved. As this dealer has probably one of the longest delivery paths I thought it would be of more general interest to know the delivery dates.and that cars ARE coming! (LSS included!!)
Fortunately, I was only bumped one spot in the end by Ferrari owner(s) so my car should arrive from mid to late August.
I can't put into words how excited I am! My wife thinks I have gone insane. After 2 years waiting (it feels like three years since january !!) , my car will finally arrive in less than a month. Before September wooooohooooo!!
Chanting in my Avatar must have worked :D

Adamant. CO LSS noTouring HT and port installed Saran Wrap.

BTW anyone else been drooling at those Radical SR3's?

Not to burst your bubble, but...are you *sure* your car is on that boat? Keep in mind that the order the cars are being sent over is NOT always the order in which they were ordered.

:)

Could be worse. If you are in Hawaii, the cars get fully unloaded in California. Processed. Loaded back into a container and onto another ship bound for Hawaii.

Holy redundancy, Batman!

:crazyeyes
LOL Yes I guess I should have said contiguous continental US :D

Oh and *YES* I am as sure as anyone can be. I should add that Steve Harris have been upfront and honest all along the wait. Everything they have ever said so far has been correct. I would promote them further here, but I have been asked not too as more than half their orders are now from out of state. I will add that I have been on their waitlist for a little over 2 years now and not until this past February would they actually accept a deposit from me.The information supplied to me from them is of course from the information that is supplied to them from Lotus.

I think he was :) about your fear of hijacking while at the same time presening the perfect opportunity for someone to do so. :p
Latest upate.
LCUSA say their demo car was on a truck Friday. It still hasn't arrived. #1 and #2 customers, after being told that the first two customer cars were in the US, now the dealership got the information from LCUSA that these cars are for #5 and #8 customers! The #8 customer car has LSS!
WTF is Lotus doing!!!!!
Now we don't have clue. Maybe #1 and #2 cars haven't been built yet!!!!
So much for any racing season left this year. The more I wait the more I wonder why I am giving any money to a company that is this f**ked up.
So I guess if the LSS doesn't get you then Chrome Orange does ?

Sorry to hear your most recent news, maybe my #25 car will come next ? I actually hope not. You deserve your car.

If it makes you feel any better, this appears to be common - Lotus is NOT building the cars in the order we all expect them to (the order of the lists). I'm a victim of that, too. :(

I was so annoyed I thought I had better stop typing, but I can see I should have added this.
The #8 car is CO/LSS/Touring HT.
Mine is the same except for No Touring.
I can't believe there is any explanation other than maybe they put the insulation on by mistake  then found another place to fill.

Thanks for listening though, I needed to vent :(
Adamant I know how you feel. I was told as early as last friday my car would be in this week,on that information I sold my M-5 $5,000 under book on Monday($3,000 under true value) to find out mine isn't one of the cars due in this week with no idea when it will really be here. All I can say is I hope it's worth the wait when it's all over.

Ryan (#3 at Steve Harris)
Hey Ryan, you are #2 not #3, not that it means anything any more. Sorry to hear about the rush sale, that's a real bummer! Ours were the two cars that were supposedly here. Have you driven one yet? Maybe we'll finally meet this Xmas when the cars show up:D

I can't remember if you said or not but did you order touring?
I ordered the touring and the LSS. I hope Christmas is at least in August the wait is killing me. Don't get me wrong I'm glad to have my other car sold I just would have taken my time had I known. & no I havn't even sat in the car yet.
Well I hope your right but I don't think there is a chance in hell that they will be here until mid September now :(
The two that are here will get to Harris' maybe by the end of Aug.
So you ordered Touring, well that blows my theory. Maybe the factory just puts the customers names in a hat and draws a few out each week because it certainly makes no sense at all!!
So if you don't think they will be here untill mid September where do you think they are right now?
I hope at least they are on a boat

Sure, but the boat is probably bound for the east coast.
Are my posts starting to sound bitter ?
I certainly hope so. If not I need to work on my writing skills.

Hope I'm wrong about that east coast thing.

Steve
I think you have the sarcasm adjusted about right :p To be honest I am having doubts if our cars are even built :(
I am trying hard not to actually post too much adverse commentary but it is becoming crystal clear why a company with so many innovations over several decades is still the size of a 2 year old start-up company
Even with the dealership on my side, I am not likely to find anything about my car until the dealership is invoiced. They invoiced once the car is on a truck from CA (i.e. about 48hours notice).
On my next day off I will try and extract something from LCUSA, but I am not holding my breath.

Do you have a phone number ? I'd like to ask them a couple questions about Galpin. At this point I have nothing really other than Joe at Galpins word that they are about to become, or have become a dealer. The LCUSA website has removed Symbolic BH
and added Desert European, but no mention of Galpin. The LCUSA
website also has "accidently" left off the CONTACT US link.
