Hi All,

Started up my cabin fan today to a high pitched whine and a few small chunks of white styrofoam coming out the vents. In hindsight, the noise is likely from the fan rubbing against the styrofoam.

One of the few times I can't find anything in search - any ideas where the styrofoam is coming from and how to fix (preferably without removing the clam)? 06 Elise

One of my Porsches had an issue where the foam on the flapper doors would dry out, break apart and fly out the vents. It was black foam used to seal the flappers. I've not heard of this on Lotus.

I can confirm that foam is used on our flappers as well. Ours is a dark gray (charcoal), not white like OP's problem.

The noise went away after a couple more small, round pieces of styrofoam came out. Hopefully it stays gone.
