Audi 335 HP --> 5 cylinder engine!

Im not a audi fan, but perhaps a 5 cylinder is the best weight/power crossover point

* New TT RS C oupe and Roadster debut at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show (March 5th to 15th) and open for European order in late March priced at - first deliveries in June
* First modern day Audi model since the emblematic quattro coupes of the 1980s to feature charismatic five-cylinder power in a new high-tech form that makes 340PS and 30mpg a reality
* 340PS from 5,400rpm to 6,700rpm, 450Nm from 1,600rpm to 5,300rpm, 0-62mph in 4.6 seconds (Roadster 4.7 seconds), t op speed limited to 155mph but can be increased at extra cost to 174mph, combined mpg 30.7 (Roadster 29.7mpg)

Dont know if it would be cheaper, but Ford just envieled the Focus RS with a 2.5L 5 Cyl that is rated at 295HP (300PS).

This is thought to be the Focus RS sound preview

Ditto. At 1st wanted to give the benefit of the doubt and hoping it was a closed road, until I saw an opposite car coming. Wow, that's really poor judgment. So who was the driver?

It might be hard to tell from a camera mounted three inches off the pavement, but it is possible that the driver retained three or four hundred feet of line-of-sight down the road at all times, even around those turns.

Maybe not, but from the video I can't say he didn't.

You can get 330bhp comfortably from the old 1.8 4 Cyl TT engine (plenty of elises running that configuration).
Even then once you get everything plumbed in it's a very tight fit in an Elise engine bay so I'd say putting in a 2.5 5cyl is going to pushing things a bit on packaging and weight.

Ahem.....maybe that would provide a good reason to widen the rear track a bit and get that GT3 body going :cool:
