Ended early by bidder who did not complete the auction. Ended 3/12.

14 bids ending at $255.00 for a spot in line. No number but a claim that the car will be delivered in May or June. Yet claiming can be ordered in many colors. Requries payment of $3k to dealer within 24 hours of auction close. Is this a dealer? Midwest. Ended 3/19.

Ended at $6000, 1 bid, claimed first position.

Ended early (24 hours) with ZERO bids. Seller was asking $3,999 for a #2 spot

$10,000 for a "due May/June car".

Now at $5,100 with 2 bids for a top 10(?) spot.

Asking $6,000 (no bids) for #2 spot
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2468104729&category=6312

$5,000 in one bid for what appears to be a number one spot, but he has not put his order in. Something is odd about this one.

Asking $7,500 with no bids. Spot in line not know, order already placed and August delivery quoted.

I don't get it? Are all these dealers gonna let these people swap out there place in line to other people? I can see if you took the car and then sold it, but what dealers are gonna let you simply gouge for your spot in line and or why would they let you. Weird?!

Symbolic (Graham) specifically told me that if they found out someone on the list was selling their spot or speculating, they would be dropped down the list.

I don't know how many of these people are guaranteed that they are in a specific spot. In at least one auction, they don't even mention where they are on the list, but since their order has not been taken, we know it's not early. People bidding on that might think they are getting one of the first cars. You could sign up today at a dealership and then auction your place in line an hour later.

Seems like a lot of ebay speculation at one time. I wonder if it will increase as the cars get closer.

At the risk of stating the obvious, I don't believe that people are selling these spots because they no longer want the car, they simply bought up spots to sell at a profit with no intention to ever purchase the car for themselves. This practice benefits none of us and should not be tolerated; in fact it hurts honest purchasers by pushing us farther down the list. In particular, the dealers should not sanction this practice and should make deposits non-transferrable. Unless the dealer is getting a kickback from the seller, or a dealer actually is the seller, I don't see why a dealer would allow such a transfer.

Hopefully these spots will not sell and the deposit holders will just fall off the list. If you want to buy the car and then try to sell it at a profit, so be it. But people should not be allowed to benefit from selling their spots in line, since they really don't own a commodity at that point and have no right to market a spot on a waiting list.

Add another to the list.

Link

Supposedly an April/May car (we'll see) currently >$15,000 for the right to buy. #4 at Behlmann which told me specifically that spots on the waiting list are non-transferable.

Why would anyone bid that high when there are several way, way under that price??

I'm willing to bet that at least 95% of the people who are bidding on these spots have no idea what they are bidding on.... i.e. they think they are bidding on the car itself.

"Gee...I get a $40K Lotus for $5K..."

It seems like none of these auctions were successfully completed. A lot of bidders are not following through.

Good point I wonder want the sucessfull completion factor is on these bids. Has there even been 1 to date?
