Greetings from St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
My respect to forum members, you are both knowledgeable and helpful.
Not to mention humorous.

The plan;
- Read up on Lotus sites.
- Rent an Elise
- Attend Lotus high performance driving school. (Set for next month)
- Talk to folks at the school, car rental and owners, to gather info on day to day living/maintenance, options, accessories, mods. (LSD; TC; Elise or Exige)
- Purchase a Lotus.
- Ship to the Virgin Islands.
(I need to check with shipping company. I’d prefer to load it on and off the container myself even if there is a premium, or ship it in a trailer.)

There is no Lotus dealer here.
I did talk with the Toyota mechanics who feel they will be able to work on the car.

I’m thinking of getting a 06 or 07 as warranty work will not be available.

The roads can be “sports car heaven” except we have pot holes and speed bumps.
Due to the climate I will require AC every day.

Thanks for any input,

Ling

Ling,

Welcome to fold! You might consider a low mileage '05. Fewer reported problems with AC relay interfering with the ECU-none really (since the '05 isn't drive-by wire). Plus, with an '05, the warranty is undoubtedly up. You might also get an extra set of wheels if you're really in pothole heaven. Between this site and a competent Toyota mechanic, you'll be able to handle just about naything that comes up down the road. Have fun at the driving school!

Thanks

"Sports car heaven", lots of twisties.
I know were most of the pot holes are and the speed bumps.
Good idea for extra wheels and tires.
Will consider an 05 low mileage.
Buying used also lets me add options/mods and still cost less than new.
Regards,
Ling
