Ok, granted Avantis are ugly, but they're cool :)

What about the Opel GT or the TVR 3000?

Both of those are beautiful cars (especially the TVR), although probably not daily drivers!

Ok

For real, now.

Here's the TVR again:

1979 TVR 3000s

I'm seriously considering this one. I've written to the owner several times, and gotten a bit of info about it. It's been fully restored, although the speedo has been replaced, and mileage is unknown. I'm sure that knocks a couple points off it for collectibility, but who cares ?!? It's got a little bit of a leaky top, but it's a seal issue. The canvas is perfect.

Should I bid on it? With delivery it'll probably come to over 16k. Looks like a fun little car, though!!! Something I could hold onto. It's not a turbo, but it's a cool little ride. I think the non-turbos had 160 hp or so?

Please someone help out... older cars aren't really my area of expertise. Oh, and is there anyone in the Seattle area who'd be willing to check it out for me??!

Thanks!!!

"It is as it came from the factory with the Ford Essex 3-litere V6 140 hp engine, dual choke Weber carburetor and 4 speed manual transmision. "

i like the color. It does look very nice inside and out. The fire extinguisher is pretty funny. It's up to you, man. If you can afford it, why not?

Well, I'm looking at it as a "while I wait" toy. If I get this one, I'll obviously need a daily driver, too. But I just want something to hold me over for the next 8-12 months until the elise gets here!

I love wacky

Hey, the Avanti looks better in person. I am sorry when it went to Canada and died, my parents always had Studebakers. :)

I love the TVRs...

My computer crashed when it saw the Mangusta (sp) so that's the one you need. :D

hey I pleaded the 5th and clunks Transio over the head.. hehe

Then what will happen to the TVR when you get the Elise? Will you keep it or sell it? And by keeping it I don't mean park it in a garage, throw a tarp over it and forget about it. :p
Ara

What about the '87 Alfa Spyder (3rd link from top)? That looks pretty clean and it's less than $10k and it only has 23k miles on it!

I've actually been reconsidering the TVR. I currently only have space for 2 cars, and one is used up by my girlfriend. So it's either a new place with parking for 3+ or no girlfriend if I want to have another car. :D Of course, if I get the TVR, I probably wouldn't want to drive it every day, which means a third car in any case. This will require some thinking. I certainly don't want to buy it 2 days after I found it online, but the auction ends today. Besides, she doesn't like it as much as I do. She wants me to get a Viper GTS.

So now, again, I'm leaning towards Viper GTS / Corvette Z06 as a "hold over" car. I'll look for collectors when I have space.

I don't know, I would probably just wait and not buy anything. Seems to me that there's too much hassle in buying a car and then selling it again about a year later. What's wrong with the car you drive now?

save your money for your Elise or a new place.
