My new RAC Monolites came with screw-in type valve stems. The stems have rubber on each side of the rim hole and are secured via a threaded nut. Does anyone know the proper torque setting for the nut that secures the valve stem? My guess was 10 to 12 pounds of torque, but I would rather not guess.

That sounds like too much torque... I would guess no more than 5 ft-lb. If you're worried about them vibrating loose, add a drop of Loctite 242 on the threads.

I wouldn't go with a torque setting anyways. While installing the stems, watch the rubber seals and stop tightening the nut when the seals just start distorting. If you are afraid of the nut loosening up, it would be best to double nut them to lock the nuts in place. This will make it easier to remove the nuts from the stems if you need to remove the stems in the future.
