I have an elise with the stock small wheels on it so my set of A048 tires bulges out and has a lot of sidewall bending. I am not looking for the fastest lap time as I am not racing, just looking for a set of good sub $1,200 wheels for my elise that will be in more standard sizes which I think is 16X7 front and 17X8 rear. I looked at black watch racing for $1,000 and sector 111 for about $1,140 and also i see in my searchs the Rota slipstreams for $600-$800. Will the Rota's be fine for track days(4-8 per year on A048's, maybe slicks on the future) these will be track day only wheels not for street use.

Somebody said you get to choose cheap, lightweight or strong, choose two, well if thats the case I choose cheap and strong :)

Let me know your opinions or if you need additional info from me.

Rota fits your criteria, beautifly. THe other 2 are fine options as well.

The extra lb or 2 per corner will be tough to notice without a stopwatch that measures in hundredths.

stock lss sizes are 6.5 and 7.5, the fronts went to a narrower 6 in 2008 I believe. 7 and 8 is an upgrade IMHO, perfect for 205/245 combo

I thought the S111 ethos wheel was under $1000? But then again I haven't checked in a while. They seem like really nice wheels for track use.

As for the slipstreams, yea they should work fine although good luck finding them. To my knowledge the only way to get them at this point is through the used market. I even tried to get in touch with a large Rota dealer to see if they would make another run of slipstreams in our size if I setup a large group buy order and they were not interested.

Someone needs to convince them to make the 15"/16" slipstreams again in Elige fitment.

18Racing.com has the Elise-specific Torques in-stock right now [16x7 et27 & 17x8 et35]

I have a set of Slipstreams that are holding up perfectly fine with the usual 205/245 Hoosier sizes.

It appears the S111 Ethos wheels are out of stock in 16x7 & 17x8, which is a bummer. I wonder when they'll be available again.

If you follow the for sale threads you might be able to find a set of LSS wheels that fit your price range. That's what I did five years ago and I found a nice set of black LSS with almost new AO48 which were within your price limit.
I know that was a steal, but you just have to wait for the right set to pop up.

Yea its fairly easy to find the torques... However finding the slipstreams is next to impossible.

What is the difference between the slipstream and the torques?

Also how do I know what offsets etc to order, I don't have a clue what any of that means.

Also nobody has commented on the Black Watch Racing wheels either

I have the Team Dynamics Racing wheels that are shown on the Blackwatch Racing site. There are two flavors here - 1.2 - which are cast and 1.4 - which are forged (stronger/lighter). I've got the 1.4's and they fit the 205/245 sizes just perfectly.

These are also identical to Lotus Cup wheels from a couple of years back.

So far I like the Rota torques in gun metal but 18racing.com doesn't show splitting them up and it shows a 40 offset on the front(no idea what that means or what I need) and all other lotus wheels show a 30 or less for the offset.

Otherwise I like the black watch racing 1.2 in anthracite.
As you can see from the profile car color is laser blue and I prefer darker color wheels.
