Waldir up at intermecanica built my car and he's an incredible guy and I absolutely love his shop but its about 3 hours from me. Looking for some trustworthy places on long island. Anyone have any suggestions? Just for servicing, tunes, ect. Thanks!

Most servicing can be done by almost anyone (assuming they don't drop your car off a lift).

It's a Toyota drivetrain.

Not sure what "tunes" means, but most ppl don't get new programs very often.

I'd be careful with that thinking ...yes it's a toyota drivetrain but getting to things and all of the other peculiarities make this car tricky to work on for an unfamiliar mechanic.

You can try out Real Auto Dynamics in Oceanside. I've gone to them previously for routine things like an oil change. I've been going to Intermecanica a lot recently. Huntington Autosport is also a Lotus dealer in Huntington Station.

E.g. Had to change an a/c hard line and access clearly required removing the RH rear wheel and fender liner. Added 20 minutes to job, but still easy.

I plan on doing oil changes ect on my own but I work crazy crazy hours so sometimes It makes my life a lot easier to just have a reputable mechanic do servicing. I plan on getting my hands dirty though and learning the ins and outs of the car as long as I can find the time absolutely love this car, i've never had so much fun driving in my life. Great purchase.

I think you under estimate an owners own care when working on a car. Possibly even your own skills.

I am unfortunately a poster child of what can go wrong even when working with well known mechanics and shops.

Well you can follow one link I have for Monkey Wrench Racing in my footer.

Basically well know "toyota" specialized shops try to work on my car and royally screwed it up. Just because one is a Toyota mechanic does not mean they can and should work on your car.

I had Monkey Wrench Racing, Hass Turbo and a few others work on my car and they fu(ked it up royally. All while paying these popular shops thousands of dollars.

All I'm saying is a "toyota" drivetrain does not constitute it as being the same as working on a Celica or Vibe and competent with the Lotus. Sharing the engine and tranny is only bit a smidget of knowing how to properly work on these cars. Not that they are uber complicated but they are different and very delicate to mistakes.

Autosport had to do my oil recall 2x and when I got my car it was still covered in oil and some how duct tape was used because when I got it back duck tape was all over my seats, and I wouldn't take my car back their for a car wash, if you want a shop contact bnr, its jr's shop and he has a lotus, great guy and I herd nothing but good things

BNR is another good suggestion - I have never used Junior for anything mechanic, but he is a really nice guy and does own a Lotus.

I've never gone there and after hearing this never will. This isn't the first complaint I've heard against them.

I never let anyone touch my car, I always work on my own cars but its a recall and r mann said he would only warranty it if I go their so I had no other option.
