"Feds: Immigrant Raid at Mississippi Plant Largest in U.S. History"
Tuesday, August 26, 2008
Associated Press

FOXNews.com - Feds: Immigrant Raid at Mississippi Plant Largest in U.S. History - Local News | News Articles | National News | US News

Read the story and see how slanted it is toward the illegals. Never mind that these people are breaking the law. Here's one quote from the article:

"We have kids without dads and pregnant mothers who got their husbands taken away," said Velez's son, Robert, it a felony for an illegal immigrant to accept a job in Mississippi.

Any time a criminal is arrested this can happen regardless if they are charged with violating immigration laws or any other law.

Don't do the crime if you can't do the time!

Whatever.....
The problem ultimately IMHO is not with the illegal aliens, it is with the people who are hiring them. I may have missed it, but I didn't see anything about putting management personnel in jail. (Do that on a regular basis, and I guarantee the problem of illegal workers will decline substantially.)

Is that a liberal comment? I don't think so. It is common sense (which apparently escapes both parties).

...xenophobic absurdity from a lot either too lazy or too incompetent to work in a competitive marketplace - it costs far more to prosecute these petty offenses than ever would seen in revenue if they were legalised and taxed...

Both are breaking the law and should be prosecuted. I think that businesses that do this (on a regular basis) should be treated like drug dealers . . . incarceration and asset forfeiture.

This is not an abnormal fear or hatred of foreigners and strange things, it's a hatred of criminals. Felonies are not 'petty' offenses. With your reasoning we can just legalize everything and just tax it. It costs money to enforce every law, not just immigration laws.

It's an Associated Press story reported by FOX. You must live where only part of a post is read.

You'll notice that the word Illegal is conspicuously absent in the story headline.

...certainly there's a nice parity to treating all victimless crimes the same way; why not speeding and emissions violations too?..
Felonies are not 'petty' offenses.
...hence the farce of this case in point...

touche. actually i live where any thread heralded with some political slur using a label as insult in the title is not worthy of a complete read.

Im generally left leaning on social issues, but this is one area where I am about as far right as you can get.

The more assholes makes excuses for these people the more they will continue down that same path. They give them a reason to act this way by saying "They are a product of their environment"

That is bull****, 100%bull****.

My mother left my father when I was two years old. She went on welfare, moved into the projects, and went back to school to learn a skill to support us. We lived in the projects for almost 5 years until she finished school. After that, she found a job and we moved OUT of the slums.

I turned out just fine....Im 24 and married, household income more than DOUBLE the median for this part of Florida. These losers have no excuse. Bad parents are to blame here, and a system that perpetrates this lifestyle.

Because I have this personal experience, I believe in having a welfare system, however in its current state its abused far more than its used the way it should be like in my mothers case.

So, from a mostly liberal guy, I do NOT agree with these idiots

YEAH!!! Stoopid leftiest liberal media!!! YEAH!!!

Damn these illegal immigrants making less than minimum wage, picking lettuce, and doing jobs that no Americans want to do.

Too bad we didn't have immigration laws 200 years ago so that we could declare all the founding fathers illegal immigrants.

After all, I am a COMPASSIONATE conservative. The law is the LAW, and it should never be broken. Who cares whether it has any connection to right or wrong. Who cares if the laws are supposed to reflect the values of man. Who cares if the law is abused. The law is absolute.

Stupid leftiest newspaper trying to make it seem like breaking the law is ok. What would happen if the newspaper questioned the laws and implications (ranging from those passed in Nazi Germany to the Patriot Act)? I'll tell you what would happen: DISORDER!!!

And who exactly foots the bill when they flood the emergency rooms for free care, or their kids go to school?

If we had immigration laws 200 years ago, it probably wouldn't have mattered either, because they wouldn't be enforced. After all who cares, right? Let them do as they wish, as long as they feel they have a good reason.

Like I said, I guess it's OK to do as you wish as long as you feel it's for a good reason. Unfortunately for anyone who believes this nonsense, it doesn't reflect reality. In fact, it's such nonsense, that proponents of this type of thinking usually turn to emotion to get their point across, because logic will fail every time.

The problem isn't illegal aliens but the welfare state. End the welfare state and people won't have much of a problem with them. Additionally, since free services would no longer exist, there would be less of an incentive to come here in the first place.

You want to debate logic? I would crush you.

---And who exactly foots the bill when they flood the emergency rooms for free care, or their kids go to school?

So is immigration a problem, or the school system and health care system a problem?

Are you arguing economics? Because if you are, I could easily make the argument that an "investment" in footing the bill for an illegal immigrant's emergency healthcare would provide a better return than providing emergency care to a really old person or a homeless person.

With regard to schools, what difference does it make to me if the child is from parent X or parent Y when parent X and parent Y are identical exception for their immigration status? As a member of society, it is in my interest for all people who exist in this society to become educated.

As for the rest of my post, you fail to detect sarcasm.

Because 'native americans' were all so welcoming and inviting? In between scalpings I suppose?

And you just have no idea what the hell you are talking about so you should stop.

Whoa...whoa... welfare issues...way over my head.

I fail to see the constitutionality of allowing the government to forcibly rob its citizens and give that many to others. I always though that was more socialist. Sorry your mother was on welfare and you take this personally, but that's what charity is for. Maybe you should sell that cool little Lotus and give all that money to people in the projects? I guess that's the job of everyone else, according to you. So much for personal responsibility. Just sayin'...
