Gang,

New information from Ollie at RothRock, for those with an interest.

To date they have received 4 cars, a demo and three customer cars.

They expect to receive an additional 24 cars by the end of the year. Another batch, not sure of the size, is coming through in the next 1-2 weeks. It appears their allocation is about 4 cars per month.

As I am number 68, it looks like I am now 14 months away. For that reason, I think I will go elsewhere and pay a premium to get something by next summer. It sucks, but oh well. If anyone has a Storm Titanium with Biscuit, Touring, and LSS on order and wants to deal, let me know.

Surferjer,

That does seem to be the case. I just spoke to the financing company that I deal with and they told me that they can help me track something down pretty easily - "we're starting to see these all over the place - we can get you one." The premiums seem to have dropped from the $10k level to the $2.5k-$5k level from what I've seem. Hopefully you're right - a $1-2k premium would be totally worth it to me just to have it by next summer. Until then have to make due with other toys! At least the winter here in PA will mean I wouldn't drive it too much so I'm not missing a whole lot until spring...

PS - think I saw you on 202 a couple weeks ago - looked good! I live in Plymouth Meeting, maybe a half hour away.

I'm on 202 a lot. Did you see the pics of Robert's car in the Elise Experience? We had dinner last night. His lazer blue is whoa! beautiful.

Me too - I live right off 202, near KOP.

Saw the photos of the LB, but not in person yet.

I actually like the BRP much better than expected. Great "candy apple" with silver fleck. I was afraid it would have too much orange/gold/brown tones - it is quite stunning!

patience

I'm # 62 at Rothrock.

Mmmmm.... winter is coming....the car would stay in the garage for 4 to 6 months anyway if I had it....

I can easily wait the 14 to 16 months for my car...that much less to finance.

I just wish #4 to #61 were bailing out, not #68. Does me no good.

ok

More power to you! The Elise does not look to me like a car I want to spend a whole lot of time in in a PA or Northern MD winter.

The two MG's, three Europas, one Esprit, one Fiero, one Crossfire, that I owned all spent their winters tucked away comfortably in the garage. Only the 84 CRX spent winter on the road, and it wasn't much of a winter car, FWD notwithstanding.

Update from Rothrock

Any feel for how sure Ollie was about the "additional" 24 cars by year's end? This would put them at 27 customer cars delivered, yes?

I spoke to him a month or so ago and these numbers are not out of line with what he speculated on then, but he was not counting arrivals, just esimating deliveries with a 3 month window. If the above numbers are true it should put me in a car before spring (Jan-Mar) allowing a careful break-in on the occasional clean winter days.

Sounds like the info is getting a bit more solid. I guess we just wait and see.

Chris,

If you want to see LB in person, let me know. I'm out your direction acouple of times a week so coordinating something will not be a big deal. BTW, you can also see it, along with a host of other colors at the etalk/ club111 event in Sherman Ct. on Oct. 3rd.. We should have at least 5-6 elise there and a bunch of older lotuses as well. Come and eat, talk cars and hear what we'll be planning for the next year (club events).

If anyone needs more info., PM me.

Ollie seemed pretty confident, which is unusual because his nature is generally pretty cautious/ambiguous. I think he's watched what's happened and wants to manage expectations. When I put my deposit down, he sort of shrugged and told me 24 months and that he really didn't know. Now he thinks 14-18 months. I don't mind waiting another 6-8 months, but longer would be hard as I wouldn't want to get the car after next summer.

Robert - where are you in Philadelphia? I live in Plymouth Meeting, but I work in Center City. Would love to meet up.

Thanks!

I think Ollie may be a bit optimistic but I sure hope he is correct.

I am #9 at Rothrock. Anyone want to guess when I'll get my car?

If #9 was part of
the 'first wave', you should have it by
end-October according to J. English
statement some months back. A 'second wave ' car's delivery depends on the
'per month' allocation your dealer gets
'end November' onward. Monthly averages can be as much as 11-12 cars
or as little as '1' car (actually less if your
dealer is the one 'English' spoke about
when he said, 'as little as 10 cars per 12
month period'.) Most dealers should
average between 3 - 5 per month......
from the 'second wave' on I guess-timate.

Hey Everyone in the Philly area, I'm in Chester Springs!

I spoke to Ollie this past Saturday and drove their demo (very nice!). The demo is going up for sale next week at $5k over list. He also told me that he's going to be placing the order for the second batch of 10 in December.

Hope to see you guys around! I'm in KOP on the weekends. I drive to Yardley everyday on the PA turnpike.

litew8crazy,

I am also in the philly area. as a matter of fact, a couple of weeks ago I got together with Surferjer in West Chester for a meal and we nearly caused a traffic jam at the restaurant on route 3. If you need anything PM me. I am also the regional coordinator for Club111 and hope you consider joining. Contact me if you need more information.

Robert-maybe we can have a Club 111 get together around here somewhere! There's at least four of us in eastern PA now. And we seem to have many colors covered!:)

The demo car is already listed for sale on the internet site. It is improperly listed as a 2005 Lotus Esprit. Click that link and it brings up the demo car for $50K
