Good morning Christian
Thank you for your enquiry. The six speed gear lever gate is already part of
our accessory range. The part number is LOTAC05358 and retails at £42.51.
Regards
Mel

This is the 5 Speed Version:

An accessory guide for the US would be a good way for them to sell these things... though I'd guess that's another "Fall 2003" item.

"Available" doesn't mean you can buy it now. It means they are thinking about selling it, maybe producing it, and if you want one, they might take orders for it. You have to know how to speak English - it's different than the more straight forward version you are familiar with in the U.S.

In the accessory guide I got in the US there's this page which has some shift gates. The six speed one is listed in the part list but is not pictured. The part number for the six speed gate is the same as the one mel gave you.

The shift gate would be purely cosmetic as it doesn't have the big lobes to guide you into the right gear like a ferrari has. Like the shift boot better.

You can get one from your dealer today. Or you can go to the Group Lotus website accessories page--it includes the "Elise USA '04-."

With reverse so far to the left how can that shift gate work? Seems you would hit the gate before you got it in reverse.

None of the ones shown are the 6 speed ones (I think)

Even without the
big lobes I can see some benefit since
you would be able to ascertain via a glance, whether you are in '3rd or 5th',
or '4th and 6th' when cruising in a
day-dream mode......which I do
frequently on my way to 'The Autistic
Center'.

The original Ridgeman (AKA Rainman)
was adept at 'counting cards'. I'm still
waiting for the electrodes to hook-up
inside my brain so I can become just as
adept at 'counting cars'. Lightning storm,
where are you?.....people need to know!
